Job Description

Hi, my name is Brad Touesnard. I’m the founder of Delicious Brains Inc. We make high quality products for WordPress. The “we” is a growing team of talented developers, designers, and marketers. We’ve grown a lot recently, from 10 people 18 months ago, to 24 people today. I’m very proud to say that our company has been managing to delight thousands of customers, working from our homes since 2012.Despite the crazy times we’re living in, we have big plans for the next 12 months and this is a great opportunity to join a small team of talented folks building awesome products. The JobI’m looking for a full-time Marketer to take over blog publishing, email marketing, managing marketing projects and much much more. You will work very closely with Caillie (Marketing Manager), Mike (Senior Editor), Jonathan (Technical Writer), Thomas (Video Producer) and our site development team.Content is a huge part of our business. Our weekly emails go out to over 6,000 people! It’s imperative that every email we send and blog post we publish meets our high bar of quality. Jonathan and our developers write all content while Mike oversees the whole process and edits. You’ll be the last line of defense making sure every box is checked in our checklist before publishing a post or sending an email. On top of that, we have a ton of marketing projects to push forward. You’ll coordinate work with team members and ensure the projects keep moving. You’ll be working on a lot more than the above – SEO, link building, social media and more – no two days will ever be the same.Responsibilities

  • Publish and promote blog posts. We aim to publish a couple posts every week. These posts are written by our Technical Writer, Senior Editor or Developers; you will not be expected to write the articles. You’ll be responsible for publishing the post on WordPress, sending an email to our audience via Drip, and promoting it on social media. We’d like to work towards expanding our blog promotion efforts so we’d expect to hear your ideas on this front as you think of them.
  • Help curate existing content library. We’re constantly working on curating our content library. This means if a post is no longer doing well, we may delete it or update it. Was a post successful but is no longer timely We may delete or redirect it. You’ll share your thoughts with the content team on what actions should be taken and help action some when a decision has been made.
  • Send out emails to our customers as-needed. From time to time we write our customers with various updates. Sometimes this is a last-minute alert about a bug while other times we’re simply notifying them about an exciting release. All emails sent to customers will be your responsibility to send.
  • Link building. As part of our efforts to improve our site rankings, we’ve been working on building links from other sites to ours. We’ve done this in a number of different ways and still homing in on the most effective methods. You’ll be helping out by coordinating with third-parties and sharing new ideas.
  • Coordinate updates to our sites. As the marketing team thinks of ideas to implement on our sites, it will often be up to you to coordinate. This involves outlining the task, making sure the proper people are assigned and the project is moved along in a timely manner.
  • Social Media. You’ll help run our social media accounts, making sure every tweet/message/post to us is getting a reply and ensuring we have a consistent social media presence.
  • Coordinate new opt-ins for our sites. You’ll help coordinate any updates and new opt-ins for our sites. Sometimes this will mean bringing it from copy to design through to implementation while other times, you’ll make the changes directly in ConvertFlow.
  • Manage marketing projects. Black Friday is an example of a major annual project. You’ll be helping to coordinate all the departments so the plan gets executed as intended. You’ll also share ideas on which deals we should be offering and how they should be carried out.
  • Manage Virtual Assistants. We currently have one virtual assistant who you’ll help manage. They carry out a variety of light administrative duties and require specific instructions. It’ll be up to you to make sure they’re completing their tasks and that they have enough to work on.
  • Booth coordination for sponsorships. When conferences are happening, we’ll sometimes sponsor a booth. When we do this you’ll help with coordinating everything necessary for its success.
This isn’t an exhaustive list of all your duties. One of the amazing things about this role is the variety of tasks that you’ll get to work on.Requirements
  • Extremely organized
  • Experience with marketing automation software. We use Drip and Userlist.
  • Confident in using WordPress to create and publish pages & posts
  • Ability to learn how to use software quickly on your own
  • Comfortable in Google Analytics and Google Search Console
  • Project management skills
  • Comfortable in technical conversations. While you don’t need web development experience for this role, we create technically complex products meaning the conversations can get fairly technical.
  • Curious and a hungry to learn on your own without being pushed
  • Your work hours must overlap with 1pm – 9pm GMT (8am – 4pm EST) by four hours in the beginning, then we can relax this requirement.
  • Comfortable working remotely (we don’t have an office)
Bonus Points
  • Interested in learning basic HTML and CSS
  • Understanding of SEO
  • Experience working remotely
  • Experience writing marketing copy
About YouOrganizational messes are eye-twitch-inducing for you and color-coded tabs & dividers are the things of dreams. You are incredibly detail-oriented & organized, you even have a favourite task-manager app. Details feel like a natural focus for you. Spreadsheets Yes, please! You’re by no means a techie developer or computer engineer but you’re a quick learner and consider yourself to be very comfortable with technology. You know how to turn to Google when you’re stuck with something – whether that’s troubleshooting a Zoom connection issue for a meeting (or your friend’s frozen phone) or researching what tool or specific kind of help we might need with a website or other online project. When your to-do list is overflowing, it’s easy for you to prioritize what should get done and when. You are incredibly skilled at getting what needs to be done, done and are not afraid to ask questions along the way.On the flip side, you know when you should ask a question vs research the answer. Your first instinct is to try to figure out the answer yourself using the resources available to you. If you can’t figure it out then you aren’t afraid to ask. You’d rather ask and be safe than be burned. You’re not afraid to push back against what you know is a very unrealistic deadline. Sticking to your word of completing a task when you say you will is way more important to you than trying to make promises that you can’t or will struggle to keep. You do NOT thrive on being micromanaged and love to be given the freedom to excel in your job. Being your own boss within an organization is a dream come true for you. You’re always on top of your tasks. You never need to be chased to finish a task, in fact, you’re usually the one doing the chasing. You are open, direct, and straightforward. You believe that honesty, awareness, and ownership are the direct routes to problem solving. You’d rather not play the “blame game,” but instead just correct the issue and keep moving. You are a solution-based thinker who investigates why things went wrong with the goal of improving the process. You believe that a process problem lies at the root of every apparent people problem. It is pretty impossible to faze you and you’re able to take a hit and keep rolling — your goal is to get it done, even if the path that gets there isn’t quite the one that you anticipated. The Offer
  • Remote First. We have always been a remote company, since the very start in 2012. Working from home has its challenges, but you’ll be surrounded by empathetic folks who have been successfully working from home for many years.
  • Company Retreats. As a remote company, it’s super important to get some face time. In 2019 we had a blast in Berlin. We’ve had to cancel our retreat the last two years but so far Portugal is looking like a go for June! Will you be joining us
  • Location Independent. Work from wherever you’re happiest. All members of our team currently work from their homes in the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Egypt, South Africa, and India.
  • Choose Your Schedule. Most companies claim to have flexible hours, but the reality is often very different. We flex our hours for real . As long as on average you’re working the number of hours you’ve committed to working each week, we’re good.
  • Personal Development. If there’s a conference or event that will help you level up, the company will cover your expenses. You’re also allotted some time each month to learn something new unrelated to your job, participate in community discussions, and/or contribute to an open source project.
  • Company Holidays. Things get pretty quiet in late December / early January, so we always treat ourselves to a couple of weeks off to reboot during this time.
  • Paid Leave. For the birth or adoption of a child, the company offers 8 weeks of 100% paid leave for primary caregivers and 3 weeks for secondary caregivers. We also offer 5 paid sick days and 3 days of paid bereavement leave.
  • Health Insurance. Members of the team based in Canada are eligible for health/dental/life/disability insurance on a company plan while those outside of Canada are eligible for a stipend to partially cover insurance costs.
  • Competitive Salaries. The company typically pays salaries that are competitive with the market in which you reside. There are situations that call for higher pay even when living in a region with a lower cost of living, so we’re flexible on this.
