The Production Manager is responsible for operating in a safe manner while performing all related job functions. As Production Manager, you will be responsible for mentoring, training and directing workflow to all production team members.Job Duties and Responsibilities: Safety:

  • Ensure that company safety program and policies are communicated, understood, and adhered to while working within accordance of Nova Scotia Legislation
  • Schedule, attend and provide input at Tool Box meetings and Safety meetings
  • Perform and direct all work tasks with a focus of safety first
  • Demonstrate leadership in promoting a culture of safety to all team members
  • Ensure plant cleanliness and organization to minimize safety hazards and risks
  • Assist in maintaining training matrix for employees
  • Implementing Health & Safety program
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ability to work in safe manner and be willing to be an active participant in our safety program
  • As part of the Management team, help drive company’s success through cost control, strategic planning and participation in management meetings
  • Supervise daily activities including production schedules, job performance and adherence to company policies by team members
  • Assign work orders and direction to production employees to ensure the highest quality of service is provided to customers
  • Responsible for directing employees in meeting targets with productivity and job completion goals
  • Assist in scheduling of production and assist Shipping Supervisor with delivery schedule
  • Assist in developing and maintaining preventive maintenance program
  • Provide performance management reviews for Truss Assemblers
  • Participate in the year end physical inventory counts
  • Other duties to be assigned as required.
Mental Effort: The Production Manager may frequently experience stress as a result of:
  • Tight deadlines, last minute changes and unexpected events that must be dealt with in a productive and expedient manner
  • Occasional pushback and frustration from team members
  • Dealing with frustrated customers over deadlines and shipment dates
Work Conditions: Physical Effort:
  • Working in an industrial production environment, where lighting and temperature may vary
  • Physical conditions include frequent motion of the hands, wrist, neck and shoulders; reading paperwork
  • Production environment may require moderate to heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs, from floor level to waist level, assisted and unassisted, physical conditions include frequent repetitive motion of hands and wrists including gripping, twisting, pulling, and pushing; and frequent bending and twisting of the torso
  • Able to stand for prolonged periods of time on various ground conditions (e.g. concrete, rough ground terrain)
Environment (adverse conditions):
  • Able to work in various environmental conditions, including heat and cold
  • Exposure to noise and physical hazards require the use of personal protective equipment
  • Dusty environments due to manufacturing process
  • Comfortable working in a construction environment
