Now, we are expanding our global team and looking for talented individuals like you!Position DescriptionTitle: Beaming Department Supervisor Department: BeamingStatus: VacantPosition Purpose: The Beaming Department Supervisor is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the Beaming Department including performance outcomes, productivity targets, continuous improvement initiatives, and employee relations. This role also supports Health and Safety activities for the Truro facility.Principle Accountabilities

  • Responsible for management of the Beaming department consisting of four beamers and the Milner across multiple shifts.
  • Keep inventory of tape and beams also keep barrel inventory and maintenance up to date.
  • Over see waste control including rejects.
  • Maintains side loaders and creel maintenance.
  • Plans, supervises, and directs daily production operations with an ability to anticipate and alleviate production problems, such as material shortages, equipment malfunctions and employee-related situations.
  • Primarily responsible for coaching and developing the team.
  • Participates in the selection and interview processes to fill hourly employee positions.
  • Conducts employee reviews and maintains training and performance documentation.
  • Initiates efforts to introduce cost reductions and drive continuous improvements in methods or equipment.
  • Supervises and leads departmental safety and housekeeping practices and maintains a constant alert for hazardous conditions.
  • Educates employees and enforces company rules and regulations, including but not limited to safety rules and regulations, policies and procedures, production, and quality expectations.
  • Manages hourly employee performance including administering discipline where necessary.
  • Leads and participates in company-sponsored activities such as training, site projects and safety programs.
  • Primarily responsible for production-related administrative tasks such as payroll hours approval, reporting and associated tasks.
  • Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Plant coordinator for Emergency Preparedness Team. Ensure emergency response plans are continually reviewed and updated for the facility.
  • Track and report all KPI #39;s related to safety within the facility.
  • Lead safety orientations for all new hires to the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Post-secondary education in engineering, science or business preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment. A combination of education and supervisory experience in a similar industry may be considered.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with demonstrated skills in making sound decisions is critical.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to achieve results.
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and successfully manage change will be critical.
  • A dedicated team player who works well cross functionally.
  • Solid computer skills including MS Office with focus on Excel would be an asset.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing is a strong asset.
