Together, our diversity defines the uniqueness of Nova Scotia.About Our OpportunityAs the Regional Manager (Program Admin Officer 4), you provide leadership to the coordination of services and programs, building community wellbeing in sport, recreation, and physical activity in the Fundy Region (East Hants, Cumberland County, and Colchester County).As the Regional Manager you serve as the primary contact for the Department in the region by overseeing initiatives and services, ensuring the effective operation of the regional office. You develop, maintain multi-sectoral partnerships, while supporting the Department’s goal of being an equitable and inclusive workplace that, at all levels, reflects and respects the diversity of Nova Scotia’s population, where all employees feel welcome and valued. As the Regional Manager. You will work horizontally across government to ensure your work is aligned with key government priorities such as Let’s Get Moving Nova Scotia, Count Us In: Nova Scotia’s Action Plan in Response to the International Decade for People of African Descent, the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, and the work of the Accessibility Directorate.This position reports to the Director of Regional Services.Primary AccountabilitiesThe Regional Manager has working relationship with a diverse group of partners and stakeholders, specifically Indigenous and African Nova Scotian communities and works collaboratively, both internally and externally, using best practices and being well informed on emerging trends that enable a range of services. We are seeking a champion of equity, diversity, and inclusion who has a demonstrated record of:

• Promote active living and healthy communities
• Regional Manager uses a community development approach to creating supportive and sustainable recreation, sport and physical activity environments in the region.
• Builds community sport and recreation capacity by providing resources and knowledge for partnership, organizational, and leadership development
• Identifying and removing barriers that prevent applicants of equity-deserving groups from accessing programs and services, ensuring the lens of equity, diversity and inclusion is woven into policy, operations, and service delivery
• Contributes to a collaborative model of service delivery by providing networking opportunities, developing and maintaining multi-sectoral partnerships, and supporting inter-departmental and inter-governmental relationships.
• Ensures the effective operation of the regional office by serving as the primary sport and recreation contact for the Province in the region
• Provides supervisory and mentoring support to the regional team, administers and advises on CSR grant programs, and administering the regional office budget.
• Coordinating resources and efforts aimed to facilitate participation in quality physical activity, sport and recreation, building community and organizational capacity
• Provides quality information and expert advice to government officials, municipalities, community recreation and sport organizations, other regional/provincial partners and the public through briefing notes, reports, and consultative services

Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelors’ degree plus 6 years related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be accepted. Experience and knowledge working with racialized communities including Indigenous and African Nova Scotian communities is required.You also have:

• Experience engaging partners and stakeholders, leading strategy and policy development, designing and implementing initiatives and services
• Ability to be creative and forward thinking and to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external)
• Knowledge in the recreation, physical activity, and sport sectors
• Appreciation for the role that sport, recreation and physical activity can play in fostering environmental stewardship
• Experience managing staff, budgets and grant programs
• Commitment to advancing equity and anti-racism in sport and recreation

You possess strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills (verbal and written). You are knowledgeable, skilled in consulting and facilitation processes and prepare well written and professional documents, reports, and presentations.
