Job Title: Utilityworker II (Shift) - Line Inspector Program Company, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Meter and Inspection Services Location: Truro, NS Type of Employment: Temporary, Full Time Salary: $25.88 per hour, as per the NSPI/IBEW Collective Agreement Closing Date: July 1, 2023 Reference Number: 11453Note: This is a temporary positions with an expected end date of July 5, 2024. We are currently looking for a temporary Utilityworker II (Shift) for the Nova Scotia Power Line Inspector Program in Truro.Accountabilities: You may be temporarily assigned to other locations to assist other areas when required and will be expected to travel throughout the province. You will be required to take training courses such as: in-house safety, environmental, vehicle operation and other training courses related to your position. You must be willing to participate in on-the-job training or training programs that support the development of additional skills. You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives. You will demonstrate your knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and your responsibilities under the Act. You will take a very proactive approach to Safety in Regional Operations and will demonstrate your commitment to the Risk Assessment Process consistently. This position is considered a safety sensitive position. As such, the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy which requires a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Procedure. Your primary residence must be located within 30 minutes of headquarters and you may be required to respond to emergency after hour situations. Skills, Capabilities and Experience: A Grade XII education or equivalent, with reading and writing skills necessary to safely and effectively perform the duties of the position, is required. You must be able to perform manual labour duties, have demonstrated skills in housekeeping requirements and be familiar with and capable of using common hand and power tools in the course of the day-to-day work. Being self-motivated and having the ability to get along well with others and work with minimum supervision is essential. A strong environmental awareness and dedication, with particular understanding and experience with recycling requirements and standards is an asset. Experience with electrical equipment operation/maintenance and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) would be considered an asset. You must hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver #39;s License with a minimum of two years driving experience and provide a driver #39;s abstract satisfactory to NSPI.
