Job Description

Job DescriptionReporting to the Project Manager, the Certified Water Treatment Plant Operator operates and maintains water treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in water treatment facilities to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements.Primary responsibilities

  1. Monitors SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) and adjusts processes to meet and exceed effluent limits at all times. Duties included but not limited to obtaining process water for sampling and adjusting process based on results;
  2. Monitors flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals and programmable logic control units in assigned area;
  3. Monitors and records operating conditions, observations and data in area shift log;
  4. Ensures conformance to process specifications;
  5. Troubleshoots and diagnoses operational problems and takes corrective action as per set procedure;
  6. Verifies and reports suspected malfunctions and variances to supervisor when an issue arises;
  7. Performs routine and preventative maintenance and maintenance related items as assigned;
  8. Performs field tests (chemical, physical and biological) in order to pace chemical dosages for process;
  9. Monitors process chemical supplies and reorders when required;
  10. Performs lab tests applicable to permit testing and related reports as per set procedure;
  11. Performs instrument calibration for portable and benchtop meters including, but not limited to pH, turbidity, chlorine, color and gas detector;
  12. Practices good housekeeping in assigned area and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies;
  13. Performs manual labor;
  14. Performs minor maintenance including, but not limited to, routine preventive maintenance and minor adjustments;
  15. Operates vehicles for plant operational purposes;
  16. Assists in other areas of the plant as needed.
