Job Description

AGAT Laboratories is a full-service laboratory with locations across Canada. We are the most diversified laboratory in Canada. Our scientists are highly-skilled and specialized in the fields of biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, geology, engineering and other specialty services. With a broad range of staff experience and state-of-the-art instrumentation, we provide cross-analytical solutions for the Environmental, Energy, Mining, Transportation, Industrial, Agri-food and Life Sciences sectors.Summary:AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring a Laboratory Technician B to join our Geomechanics/Rock mechanics Lab reporting to the Geomechanics Specialist. This is an entry to mid-level position where one can gain career experience in conducting a variety of geomechanical/rock mechanical laboratory tests. The successful candidate will work out of the Calgary location.Duties:

  • Perform laboratory procedures, lab support on a variety of geomechanical/rock mechanical laboratory tests including triaxial and uniaxial compression tests, direct shear tests, and other relevant experiments
  • Prepare and characterize rock specimens for testing
  • Record test results and basic analysis, ensuring accuracy and reliability
  • Operate instruments, perform maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Previous work lab experience is an asset, training will be provided
  • Experience in lab instrumentation especially in rock testing is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and procedures is an asset
  • Attention to detail with good organizational skills
  • Strong willingness to learn with humble, respectful and friendly mindset
  • Team player with the ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment
Work Environment: This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks.
