Job Description

Do you have the drive, the skills, and the passion to join usReporting to the Manager of Salesamp; Project Management for the Precast Division, the Precast Engineer-in-Training (EIT) will provide engineering and technical resource support for the Winnipeg Precast operation’s team. This is a developmental role and an opportunity to gain widespread expertise within our Concrete Products business with the ultimate goal of building a long-term career with Lafarge. Technical support for all areas of the business including:

  • Salesamp; Estimating
  • Engineeringamp; Drafting
  • Operations
  • Quality Control
  • Project Management
Examples of responsibilities may include:
  • To serve as a role model in the areas of safety, environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.
  • Assisting to develop strategies and objectives for sales, pricing and profitability
  • Provide product design support for plant production and sales
  • Represent the business unit in various industry and trade associations and specifiers
  • Present training or seminars to individuals or groups on the design and performance advantages of Lafarge products
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on achievements, sales, profitability and segmentation
  • Assist contractors with product installation coordination and provide follow up to ensure owners comply with maintenance and inspection requirements
  • Provide solutions and support specifiers, contractors and owners on assigned projects from inquiry, quotation and completion
  • Work with Project Coordinators to manage each project by contract specifications, ensuring our contractual commitments are met
  • Coordinating with project managers, draftsman, quality control personnel, plant production and erection workers on project details, scheduling, and problem resolution
  • Problem solving for issues that arise in the production facility and on job sites
  • Maintaining calibrations of pre-stressing and concrete testing equipment
  • Attending client project meetings and providing engineering input
  • Carryout plant and site inspections for quality assurance
  • Providing preliminary designs for budgets/estimates
  • Facilitate researchamp; development for new product development
Education:
  • Recent graduate from a Bachelor of Engineering or Technology Program (Civil/Structural preferred)
  • Interest in a long-term career in engineering and construction with a goal to pursue P. Eng. Or CET designation.
Experienceamp; Skill Set:
  • Knowledge and experience would be considered an asset within:
    • Consulting engineering industry
    • Contract law knowledge (bonds, contract document preparation)
    • Design approvals with municipalities and/or governments
    • On-site construction experience would be considered an asset
  • Ability to make rational decisions and resolve conflict
  • A team leader with excellent negotiation, communication and people skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer technical aptitude to learn new systems and programs
  • Self-starter / Problem solver / Self-disciplined
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
