Your Opportunity:Situated 135km east of Edmonton, Two Hills is an urban center serving an agricultural region. The town has a population of 1,379 while the county has approximately 4,500 people. As the successful candidate for this position you will cover the Long Term Care department in the Two Hills Health Centre and model Patient and Family Centered Care. As members of the nursing team, Health Care Aides demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct client care. Client care may include assisting clients with activities of daily living, treatments, and treatment plans, and other nursing team related activities. Alberta Health Services is offering an exciting training program to become a certified Health Care Aide (HCA) across Alberta. You have the opportunity to be employed as an HCA while completing your HCA certification from a post-secondary college. Throughout the program, you will receive support, training, and mentorship from a professional team of nurses. The training program takes approximately 12 months to complete. The costs of tuition and training are covered by AHS. To be accepted into the program, you will need to commit to some criteria, including working in this position for 24 months at the time of hire.Description:As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.Additional Required Qualifications:Candidates must meet the English language requirement of the post secondary institutions before enrolling in the training program.Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience in Long Term Care preferred, plus ability to communicate effectively with the elderly. Strong spoken and written communication skills.
