Job Description

We are located approximately 20 minutes from Belleville, ON and centrally located between Toronto and Ottawa. There are approximately 11,000 registered members with approximately 2200 residing in Tyendinaga. MBQ is an employer that prides itself on diversity and fairness, providing a progressive working environment that fosters culture, positivity, and growth.Position Summary: The Mortgage Analyst is directly responsible to the Director of Finance and will work closely with the finance and housing teams. The Mortgage Analyst is responsible for delivery of the loan programs offered by the MBQ Housing Program and ongoing relationships with mortgagees including management of application processes, financial transactions, management of mortgage agreements and explanation of all policies, procedures, and programs.This position is seen as the primary link between the mortgagee and the Mortgage Program. The Mortgage Analyst will act as a case manager to applicants throughout the entire duration of the construction process.Reporting: This position will report to the Director of Finance and has no direct reports.Summary of Main Responsibilities:

  • Client and application intake, conducting interviews and assessments to gain background, needs, and affordability
  • Providing advice, guidance and support throughout the application and construction process.
  • Identifying barriers to homeownership and provide assistance to access financial assistance programs (ie. CMHC’s programs including but limited to the Residential Rehabilitation Assistance (RRAP), RRAP-Disability, RRAP-Conversion, HASI, etc.) or referrals where appropriate
  • Liaising with MBQ programs & other organizations (BMO, FNMHF, CMHC) to create workable solutions for clients.
  • Coordinating and ensuring inspections listed within the New Construction Policy are completed and recorded within the client’s file.
  • Coordinating application review and selection meeting for MBQ mortgage program.
  • Ensuring current client files are up to date
  • Ensuring historical files are archived
  • Providing a training package or training meeting, either one on one or in a group setting for all new mortgage and renovation clients.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from a post-secondary program in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in finance, housing or other similar setting OR
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and work experience
  • Has, or willing to obtain the CAFM (Certified Aboriginal Finance Manager) designation
  • Experience in a First Nation setting would be considered an asset
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Good understanding of the TMC policies, procedures, and bylaws as they pertain to housing
  • Good understanding of First Nations Building Codes
  • Good understanding of Mortgage lending processes, including functional knowledge of personal banking
  • Excellent understanding of various funding guidelines
  • Good understanding of Family Homes on Reserve and Matrimonial Interest or Rights Act
  • Knowledge of the Matrimonial Real Property and Statutory Declarations
  • High degree of self-direction and highly motivated
  • Ability to stay organized in a demanding fast paced environment
  • Must provide a clear vulnerable sector check
  • Possess a valid G driver’s license, a clear driver abstract, vehicle insurance & reliable vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal and public relation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of computer skills (i.e., Sage, MS Office, purchase order system)
