The BCCSU plays an advocacy role for positive and public policy change, reducing stigma, and supporting patients and their families. The BCCSU is committed to conducting and translating leading-edge research into improved addiction care across BC. The BCCSU develops training curricula, program standards, and practice guidelines for delivery throughout BC. The BCCSU builds collaborative networks across regional health authorities, researchers, educators, and care providers, and other allied care professionals across the province to ensure that research and innovation efficiently reach the people they are intended to serve. The administrative core of BCCSU is accountable for enabling the research, translation and practice of the organization through timely, innovative and sound management services. The BCCSU values and respects all members of its communities, each of whom individually and collaboratively make a contribution to transforming care, education, training, and research in this area.Work PerformedThe duties of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to:1. Assists in preparation of research study documents (e.g. data collection forms, consent form, recruitment material, etc.).2. Recruits and screens potential participants, provides information and answers questions about research studies.3. Adheres to regulatory procedures and ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects.4. Conducts quantitative and qualitative structured interviews and other protocol requirements with eligible participants at study visits, and performs outreach for follow up interviews.5. Reviews all study visit documentation (e.g. questionnaires) for completeness and accuracy6. Ensures policies and procedures for data management are followed and all documents are entered and filed as required by ethical guidelines and local standard operating procedures.7. Responsible for processing participant honoraria, including paying participant and recording honoraria for daily float reconciliation.8. Assists in the preparation and submission of research protocols for funding applications and REB review.9. Assists with training staff on data collection protocols as needed.10. Participates in on-going staff training and professional development activities.11. Other duties as delegated.Consequence of Error/JudgementEffective staff supervision/direction and research project co-ordination will be key in the success of the project. The person needs to be reliable and courteous with participants and colleagues. Any errors in missing appointments, or late appointments, breaches in confidentiality, errors in assessments or ill conducting an interview will tarnish the project s reputation and could lead to loss of data and negatively affect the well-being of participants. Professionalism is of the utmost importance. The person will also be required to exercise good judgment and discretion while working on the assigned projects and with community.Supervision ReceivedThe successful applicant will work receive day to day guidance from the Clinical Research Coordinator, and management and direct oversight from the Research Manager and Principal Investigator.Supervision GivenNo direct supervision for this roleMinimum QualificationsHigh school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred QualificationsHigh School graduation.High School diploma or equivalency required.Bachelor s degree in health care, social services or social sciences preferred.Minimum of 2 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.Two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required, frontline service experience in Vancouver s Downtown Eastside preferred. Experience working with marginalized populations, such as people with substance use disorders, mental health issues, unstable housing or correctional populations. Research experience or training an asset. Current CPR and naloxone administration training an asset Ability to communicate effectively verbally.Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to compose correspondence, reports, presentations, and other written materials using clear concise business English.Ability to communicate in a clear, attentive, and polite manner.
