Job Description

Job DescriptionReporting to the Regional Director, the Sales Representative will work in collaboration with the management team and will be responsible for purchasing scrap metal (from dealerships and B2B sources). The representative will also be expected to develop and maintain strong business relationships with both new and existing customers. This role requires a dynamic and proactive individual capable of working closely with all company departments, staff members, clients, and suppliers.Responsibilities:

  • Purchase scrap metal to meet or exceed tonnage targets while optimizing profit margins;
  • Visit dealerships and industrial suppliers, by phone or in person, to promote new and repeat business, provide quotes, deliver customer service, address inquiries and complaints, and build long-term relationships;
  • Prospect for new clients: visit individuals and small businesses (door-to-door canvassing);
  • Develop reliable contact networks to gain up-to-date insights on buying/selling prices and local and regional market trends;
  • Negotiate new contracts with clients;
  • Conduct profit and loss (P amp;L) analyses;
  • Use knowledge of sorting and processing operations to make pricing decisions that maximize profitability;
  • Coordinate with administrative staff and the sales team to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchase transactions;
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on scrap metal purchasing prices for AIM-operated sites;
  • Carry out special projects as assigned;
  • Coach and support team members;
  • Spend approximately 80% of the time on the road and 20% in the office;
  • Perform any other related tasks as required.
