Job Description

The Opportunity:McElhanney is currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks to support our fast-paced Finance & Accounting (F&A) department. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of key accounting concepts. This position is a full-time, permanent position and will report directly to the Finance Operations Manager.McElhanney offers a competitive salary, a bonus program, pension matching, health benefits, and the potential to become a shareholder of the company.McElhanney is also designated as a pre-approved training office by the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC (CPABC). This provides prospective students with a defined training path and also provides mentorship opportunities for existing CPAs.What You’ll Be Doing :

    • Ensure compliance of corporate policy and procedures and accounting standards when processing Vendor and corporate card accounts payables submissions, and employee expense reports
    • Process payment runs
    • Prepare entries for fixed asset capitalization and depreciation, intangible assets capitalization and amortization, prepayment amortization and other adjustment journal entries
    • Attend to vendor and internal clients’ inquiries in a professional manner
    • Maintain audit and tax schedules to assist in yearend audit and tax filings
    • Other responsibilities as required
What You’ll Bring:
    • 1-3 years’ experience in Accounts Payable is preferred but not necessary
    • Post-secondary training in accounting or finance is an asset
    • Experience in paperless Accounts Payable process is preferred
    • Experience in going through accounting process change
    • Intermediate skill in Excel
    • Good customer and communication skills – written and verbal
    • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail is a must
    • Good organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
    • An analytical mind, good number sense and the ability to learn new accounting software quickly (Dynamics SL)
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative, and to function effectively without continuous direction
