Boeing Vancouver, is seeking an Application Support Specialist reporting, to the Manager of Crew Support working out of the Vancouver office. This is a perfect position for an outgoing, customer service focused technical support professional with a true passion for technology, positive attitude, and a desire to grow as a technical professional. This is a 6 month term opportunity of employment.In this role you will be tasked with supporting our world-leading software solutions targeted to the transportation sector. This role requires an individual who is able to troubleshoot a variety of systems over the phone and perform upgrades to new releases. You also will interact with customers on a regular basis and relay issues back to the R&D team.You are passionate about solving complex real-world problems using technology. You want to work directly with clients, understanding their business and using technology to solve their problems and improve efficiency—delivering solutions that the clients truly benefit from.Position Responsibilities:As part of the crew and ops support team, you will:Plan and manage the required software updates/installations within Production environments.Manage day-to-day support and activities; assigning tickets to other team members when needed to ensure service levels are met.Provide support to production systems in a 24x7 environment (some after-hours/on call is required)Work collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple business units in an enterprise environment.Acts as the primary support contact with our stakeholders if escalations occur.Develops and tests documentation which describes the specific software functionalityTravel to visit our clients from time to time, mainly in the Americas.Ensure systems conforms with architectural objectives.Evaluate complex system's production readiness and support-ability.Performs the restoration of complex computing service operations.Performs complex system problem identification and resolution.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):5+ years of experience in information technology or technical support.5+ years of experience effectively working in a Linux/Unix environment4+ years of experience knowledge of programming languagesPost-Secondary EducationMust have advanced knowledge of the English language in both verbal and written communicationsMust have customer service experienceMust be legally able to work in CanadaEmployer is not willing to sponsor applicants for employment visa status.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience in airline operation or airline IT, ideally with crew managementPrefer knowledge of PythonExperience with:Interfaces and data integration, XMLDatabase configuration, big dataBuilding pipelines, using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, GoCDVirtual machine, using tools such as Vagrant and VirtualBoxTypical Education:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).Relocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
