Job Description

Union/Affiliation:Administrative and Professional Staff (APSA)Pay range:$81,153.00 to $96,913.00 annuallySFU Department Descr:Student Services - Registrar and Information Services,Vancouver CampusPosition Grade:11# of openings:1Biweekly Hours:72The Assistant Registrar, Registrar & Information Services is an integral part of the Information, Records & Registration Services team and plays a key role in establishing integrated business plans and a client service model for the unit and Student Services at the Vancouver campus. The incumbent is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and operation of the programs and services Student Services delivers to all undergraduate and graduate students, prospective students and alumni. The incumbent is directly responsible for the day to day management and operations of the Registrar & Information Services office at the Vancouver campus, ensuring high service levels and standards are met; provides administrative management for Student Services functions such as front line Financial Aid & Awards information services, Student Recruitment and Admissions information services, cashiering services, Academic Records, Registration and Administrative services, Academic Advising services, the U-Pass and ID/Library Card programs, SFU Vancouver campus information services, integrated communication services and course registrations for Continuing Studies at SFU Vancouver. In conjunction with the Associate Registrar, Information, Records and Registration, and the Executive Director of the SFU Vancouver campus, the incumbent arranges for the provision of non-Registrar student services at the Vancouver campus location, whether those services be provided by Vancouver campus staff or by staff from the Burnaby campus. In relation to this, the incumbent is involved with monitoring and providing information on student enrollment levels to committees, as it pertains to planning of student services at the Vancouver campus. The Assistant Registrar provides leadership and develops a comprehensive training plan for a team of client service specialists; manages the computer systems for the Library/ID Card programs and virtual advising system at SFU Vancouver; identifies and defines system issues, and recommends improvements for the functionality of the system. The incumbent leads change in business practices and processes; and develops, recommends, and manages the units budgets, including resource requirements, allocation, and deployment.Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Arts and five years of management experience in a customer service environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of University policies and regulations related to a range of student services, such as recruitment, admissions, financial assistance, advising, and records and registration.

  • Ability to arrange suitable transportation to various work locations.
  • Proficient in the use of enterprise level information systems and standard office software applications (e.g., PeopleSoft, Word, Excel).
