Are you ready to join usMeet the team The Strategic Partnerships team is a fun, energetic and dynamic group of professional fundraising and partnerships building specialists. Our team play a critical role in supporting the Pembina Institute’s mission and program goals through cultivating and stewarding partnerships and securing grants, donations and sponsorships for our program areas. Our team works closely with program experts across the organization to identify and cultivate relationships externally with individuals and organizations that can provide diverse funding that supports our overall strategic plan.The opportunityWe’re looking for an Associate Director to join our Strategic Partnerships team. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Partnerships, you will lead fundraising efforts and expand our funder base within the Oilamp; Gas and Buildings priority areas. Working collaboratively as part of the Strategic Partnerships team, you will implement fund-development strategies that align with the team’s and the organization’s priorities, while contributing to meeting overall revenue targets and ensuring long-term revenue growth and financial stability for the Pembina Institute. Your key responsibilities

• Represent the Strategic Partnerships team and the Pembina Institute’s mission, vision, and values at internal and external meetings, events, and conferences to cultivate funder relationships and engagement opportunities.
• Implement fundraising strategies for assigned portfolios through prospect research, targeted outreach, and relationship stewardship to build and sustain a strong network of funders and stakeholders.
• Lead the coordination and development of funding proposals and budgets, ensuring alignment with Pembina’s strategic priorities and accurate costing of activities in collaboration with internal teams.
• Support internal program teams on grant reporting processes to meet funder requirements and maintain high-quality standards of communication and accountability.
• Identify and evaluate new and diversified funding opportunities — including government, corporate, foundation, and individual prospects — to support long-term organizational sustainability.
• Contribute to strategic planning and execution of Strategic Partnerships objectives, supporting alignment between fundraising goals and organizational strategy.
• Collaborate with policy and finance teams to set fundraising targets, track performance metrics, and evaluate impact for continuous improvement.
• Assist with planning and executing engagement activities, convening and sponsorship-driven events to support fundraising and strategic partnership development.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to internal teams on fundraising best practices and engagement approaches to enhance cross-functional collaboration.
• Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities using internal systems and tools to ensure transparency, efficiency, and data-informed decision-making.

You bring a strong track record in fundraising with the ability to build relationships with donors, secure philanthropic support, and align funding opportunities with strategic priorities that span across teams and initiatives.What you bring

• Post-secondary education in fundraising, business, economics, communications, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of five years of professional experience in fund development or sales, ideally in the non-profit or charitable sector; experience with non-profit organizations is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven experience in budget development and financial analysis, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor database systems.
• Solid understanding of Canadian fundraising trends, strategies, and practices.
• Knowledge of provincial and federal policy landscapes, especially related to Canadian energy and environmental issues, is an asset — along with an existing network of sector-relevant contacts.
• French language proficiency and a demonstrated personal commitment to environmental sustainability are considered strong assets.

Compensation and benefits The hiring range for the position is $77,263 to $93,778 annually based on a 37.5-hour work week, with a range maximum of $110,313. Within this range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, relevant experience, education, training, and internal equity.We know that in order to meet these ambitious goals, our people are the core.
