Your Opportunity at Michels CanadaThis role is a newly created position and can be based in either our Vancouver or Edmonton office.Our Canadian Infrastructure group is eagerly seeking a dedicated and creative AutoCAD Technician to join our team! The AutoCAD Technician will collaborate with a wide variety of divisional stakeholders and supports various teams with the development of technical design drawings through all stages of the project lifecycle (RFP, project planning, early works, and construction).This role will give you the opportunity to leverage your creative talents, and technical design ability, and gives you the chance to contribute and work with an incredible multi-discipline team who are naturally competitive, excited, and passionate about winning Canadian infrastructure projects!Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of proposal specialists, engineers, estimators, and field operations daily to identify key elements of technical project challenges, from reviewing specs, work packages, and general information.
  • Review and interpret design and field survey data and coordinate with team in the preparation of proposal engineering and survey plans. Ensure all drawing records, documentation, and submittals are maintained in the corporate infrastructure data library.
  • Define scope of work and develop layout information and design drawings at all stages of construction. Perform calculations and provide technical assistance to the project design teams.
  • Ensure QC verification on drawing/designs from third parties.
  • Manage product quality control with adherence to company and client standards and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in civil engineering technology, geomatics or design field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strongly proficient with AutoCAD, and Civil 2D; Civil 3D is considered an asset.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret relevant technical drawings, blueprints, and documents.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adapts well in changing environments, working alongside multi-discipline working groups in a team setting, both in person and virtually.
  • Dedicated commitment to safety, quality, and integrity and leads by example to project team members.
