Job Description

Minami is a destination Aburi restaurant inspired by Japanese and Pacific Northwest cuisines, located in vibrant Yaletown, Vancouver. Our contemporary beverage program includes comprehensive craft cocktail, saké, wine, beer, and spirit offerings.Ideal bartender candidates have a passion for anticipatory service and creating memorable guest experiences. The Minami bar is a busy environment where calm, efficiency, and clean and organized work habits are required. In addition to preparing drinks, bartenders should be team-oriented and able to fill server and support roles.Duties:

  • Maintain a professional, friendly, and welcoming drinking environment
  • Engage in authentic conversation and informative, personalized service to ensure guests receive a food and beverage experience tailored to their tastes
  • Cultivate full command of all menu items, including contents, garnishes, and preparation methods
  • Up-sell premium menu items and features, and seek other opportunities to maximize sales revenue
  • Prepare beverages to standard and in a timely manner
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and participate in service recovery as necessary
  • Demonstrate ownership of mise en place, cleaning, appropriate stock levels, freshness of ingredients, equipment maintenance, and other tasks as directed
  • Follow proper alcohol handling and adhere to all health and safety, sanitation, and restaurant policies
  • Open availability: there will be a combination of day, evening, and weekend shifts
Requirements:
  • Serving It Right certification
  • Self-sufficiency, strong communication skills, and creative problem-solving
  • Previous bartending experience preferred, but expansive training will be provided
  • Excellent product knowledge, which should include classic cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits; saké knowledge is a strong asset
  • Proficiency in technical service skills
  • Previous POS experience preferred; must be impeccably reliable and responsible
  • Keen attention to detail and high standards of personal appearance, drink presentation, and delivery
Environment:
  • Frequent standing and walking
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, and pushing
  • Occasional ascending and descending stairs and step-ladders
