Reporting to the Department Manager and Sr Buyer, this person will support our needs to provide our newly built properties and renovations with the materials needed to remain best in class.Innovation and the ability to think outside of the box is a major requirement of this role. Keeping cost in line, while improving service and removing redundant activity is a key aspect of this position.Core Responsibilities

• Extensive construction material product knowledge, including production, distribution, and availability
• Strong knowledge of millwork, case goods, finishing materials and furnishings
• Excellent ability to coordinate and manage logistics to meet changing project schedules

• Liaise and build strong relationships with suppliers and vendors (internal and external)
• Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and team members
• Proven ability to be creative, resourceful, pro-active and innovative
• Streamline Vendor distribution to construction sites
• Review Vendor agreements and align where possible with other internal departments and leverage
• Remove non-value processes and procedures
• Create excellence in Service to Construction teams for Hotels

Experience

• Previous training in Purchasing (Min 2 year)
• Previous training in construction material & trade procurement (ideally)
• System implementation experience is preferred
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to work as part of a team, but also independently at times
• Price negotiation experience an asset
• Strong computer skills
• Project Management experience
