Job Description

The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver is an organization that provides educational, recreational, cultural and social programs and services in the Oakridge area. We need to fill one custodian position as follows:

  • one custodian for casual work (shifts could be weekday or weekend, morning, afternoon or night)
*Main responsibilities:
  • Clean assigned area ensuring that first impressions are inviting before the arrival of staff and members
  • Clear and clean garbage containers, replace liners as required and dispose of garbage, recyclables and organics.
  • Vacuum carpets and sweep, mop and wax floors
  • Dust, polish, brush, disinfect or scrub furnishing, windows and other surfaces
  • Check, clean, sanitize and restock washrooms, towel cabinets and kitchen areas daily
  • Spot clean as required
  • Secure areas of responsibilities i.e. lock doors and windows, set security system
  • Keep supplies orderly, record supplies used and monitor inventory of supplies and tools
  • Moves, lifts and performs setups for room bookings. Also taking down setups after function has ended.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in work related training as required
**Qualifications:Ability to use judgment in applying clearly prescribed methods and proceduresAbility to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the routine exchange of informationPhysical ability to perform the required duties and to lift 20 poundsWHMIS Certificate**Successful applicants will be subject to a criminal record check.**Wage:3 month probationary rate: $22.04/hrUpon successful completion of probation: $23.04/hr**All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
