Schedule: Monday to Friday (no late evenings)Location: Tacofino Oasis - 1050 West Pender, VancouverWe are looking for a forward-thinking person who is passionate about culinary art and leading a great team in making awesome food.The ideal candidate for this role is someone who believes in an elevated restaurant workplace experience and leads in a way that models what you expect from others. About Tacofino: Our roots are from a food truck in the back of a surf shop in beautiful Tofino, British Columbia. We balanced surfing and creating world-inspired food from the best possible and wrapping them in delicious fresh tortillas.   • Leading your team in creating consistent and high-quality awesome food
  • Leading with values and role modelling behaviours you expect from others
  • Providing direction, coaching, and feedback to help people grow and take on more responsibility
  • Supporting and championing diversity, inclusion, and equity within your location
  • Overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of your team
  • Partnering closely and leading the BOH and FOH team in creating great guest experiences
  • Monitoring and maintaining food and labour targets
  • Partnering with the Back of House Operations Manager to create new recipes and features
  • Ensuring a safe workplace by training all team members on health and safety and policies that support a positive workplace environment
  • Providing additional support to your team when required, including jumping on a station and supporting the line to expedite lunch and/or dinner service
  • Interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and delegating training of all new team members
  • Investigating employee concerns to ensure objective and quick solutions to workplace issues or barriers
  • Partnering with the head office team when you require support or advice
  • Maintaining kitchen systems and timelines for ordering, food production, station pars, equipment maintenance, and opening/closing duties for the back of house team
  • Creating schedules, tracking and maintaining vacation days, sick days, and days in lieu
  • Performing and submitting bi-weekly inventories
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date recipes and records
  • Other duties as required
To be qualified for this role, you will have:
  • A minimum of 5 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced, high volume & professional kitchen environment
  • A minimum of 2 years in a leadership role managing 10 employees in both front of house and back of house
  • Food Safe Certification(s) and Serving it Right
  • Proven cooking Ability, excellent knife skills, and a seasoned palate
  • A strong, positive, and supportive leadership style
  • Culinary Arts or Red Seal Certification considered an asset
  • A demonstrated passion for soulful food, people, and the restaurant industry
  • The personal skills of being a self-starter, flexible, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends according to the needs of the business
