Our collaborative and support-based culture is also structured to provide leadership and guidance for the next generation by building long-term relationships and mentorships.We value safety, teamwork, trust, accountability, continuous learning, and high performance.Consider joining the Keith and Son team today where you will be professionally challenged and supported in your career.We are seeking a proactive and detail orientated Civil General Superintendent to join our team.The Civil General Superintendent (CGS) is responsible for managing the oversight and coordination of all construction projects and resources from the job site, from their initial mobilization through to completion.The CGS provides oversight to all projects through the management of our Site Superintendents ensuring the quality of work and site communication with our clients. The CGS works collaboratively with the Project Managers and Site Superintendents and ensures that all projects are managed safely, on time, and on budget.The CGS works under the general supervision of the VP of Construction Operations and exercises initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned tasks. This role is responsible for managing the entire site team to ensure the successful completion of all work on site.Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:CORE VALUES

  • Lead and contribute as a member of the K&S Team utilizing our values of safety, teamwork, trust, accountability, continuous learning, and high performance
  • Promote and maintain good working relationships and collaboration with peers, clients, consultants, and suppliers
  • Ensure safety is a priority that is managed in every project
SAFETY
  • Overall responsibility for the site safety for all projects
  • Provide oversight and direction to the Site Superintendents and safety consultants/employees to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and best practices on-site to meet or exceed all WorkSafe BC regulations and requirements
  • Stop unsafe work or any work that does not meet our requirements and standards
  • Ensure daily safety meetings, hazard assessments and site inspections take place through weekly checks
  • Ensure site and safety orientations and requirements for everyone on site
  • Actively contribute to the Joint Health and Safety Committee
PROJECT OVERSIGHT
  • Works with the Site Superintendent and Project Manager to facilitate all projects
  • Manage the oversight of all projects by guiding the successful planning, management, and completion of multiple projects on time, on budget through strong collaboration and communication
  • Ensure collaboration with Project Managers, K&S staff, consultants, sub-contractors and clients to establish and run the scope of work, project budgets, labour, and schedules to ensure that all milestone and completion dates are met
  • Manage and coordinate all job schedules and allocates resources accordingly
  • Oversight of construction and trade contracts
  • Provide oversight to source, organize and manage construction supplies
  • Oversight of the communications with municipal building inspectors
  • Ensure Site Superintendents manage tools, rentals and secure the site by the end of each shift
COMMUNICATION & DOCUMENTATION OVERSIGHT
  • Lead all communication and updates between the site and the office
  • Ensure the completion of all Site Superintendent project documentation
  • Ensure daily work logs are completed and employee work hours are approved for all projects
  • Ensure all documentation required to meet the requirements of construction and trade contracts
  • Ensure all necessary building, trade and occupancy permits are obtained
  • Establish deficiency lists are fully remedied in an efficient & expedited manner
  • Ensure all close-out documents and tasks are completed
REPORTING
  • Meet weekly, and as needed, with the VP of Construction Operations to report on project progress, successes, and challenges
LEAD AND MENTOR
  • Lead by example to instill and apply our core values of safety, teamwork, trust, accountability, continuous learning, and high performance
  • Manage and mentor team members to excel both personally and professionally
  • Provide regular and ongoing performance feedback and guidance

Required Experience & Skills:
  • Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to positively motivate others
  • Exceptional communication, management, customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong construction safety knowledge, leadership, and approach to all work
  • 15+ years of site management experience in commercial, institutional, and civil construction
  • Strong working knowledge with MS Project, Office, and construction management, accounting and estimating software
  • General knowledge and familiarity with standard construction contracts and contractual terms and practices
  • Proven experience successfully collaborating with and managing consultants, sub-trades & in-house staff to meet their objectives
  • Technically strong with the ability to analyze project, architectural, structural, mechanical & electrical plans, specifications, and permits
  • Strong knowledge and application of provincial & municipal building codes High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability Highly self-motivated and accountable
  • Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license to drive to project sites throughout the lower mainland
