This role will also lend support to the Connections and Permit Coordinators, by reporting on new connection permits received for Operations, logging requisite plumbing inspections for connection permits, and managing the order and receipt of utility locate packages.The regular work schedule for this position is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday. This position will be based out of Manitoba Works Yard. The successful candidate may be required to adjust shifts and change locations as operationally required.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesGenerate, maintain, and optimize multiple databases related to the Sewer Connections Project, by capturing and performing comprehensive analysis of in-depth data from field activities.Obtain and populate data for the production of daily, weekly, and monthly analysis reports and metrics.Perform adjustments to both the aesthetic and functional design of reports and metrics as necessary to best reflect and serve the department’s operational objectives.Receive and track completed permit paperwork for distribution to the Records department.Receive and catalogue job site photographs from sewer connection installations.Produce detailed weekly reports outlining new sewer connection permits sent to Operations: releasing networks in Hansen, as well as identifying location details and utility complications relevant to both field staff and the Connections Coordinator.Solicit and distribute traffic restrictions for all commercial and residential sewer connection jobs.On a routine basis, check and update plumbing inspection statuses on all outstanding sewer connection permits released to Operations – liaising with Plumbing Inspectors as needed to ensure that reporting is accurate.On a daily basis, order, print, and distribute sewer connection utility packages requested for relocation.Occasionally facilitate day-end Connections progress meetings with Superintendents and Working Foremen; author and distribute meeting summary reports when applicable.Create ad-hoc reports as requested, gathering information necessary to complete the request.Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.QualificationsEducation and Experience:Completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by commercial subjects, accounting and computer related courses.Training and experience in reading building plans is an asset.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Effective and exemplary oral and written communication skillsExcellent analytical and organizational skills with exemplary attention to detail in order to handle the varied workloadAbility to establish and maintain effective and positive working relations with both internal and external contacts.Working knowledge of Word, Excel, POSSE, VanDocs, SAP and Outlook would be assets.Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Outlook, SAP and Hansen as well as familiarity with estimating software and its functionality.Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionA willingness to function as part of a team and the ability to work with minimal direction.Ability to analyze, organize and report on various project related metrics.Ability to participate in training and development both internally and externallyBusiness Unit/Department: Engineering Services (1300)Affiliation: CUPE 15 Non PksEmployment Type: Regular Full TimePosition Start Date: October, 2021Salary Information: Pay Grade GR-017: $26.91 to $31.62 per hourApplication Close: September 19, 2021At the City of Vancouver, we are committed to recruiting a diverse workforce that represents the community we so proudly serve.
