More information can be found here.A great opportunity to take the next step in your careerThe Property Assessment Appeal Board was established under the Assessment Act and is the second level of appeal following the Property Assessment Review Panels. The most common issues in assessment appeals deal with the property’s market value, fairness compared to the assessments of other similar properties, property classification and exemptions from taxation.The Surface Rights Board was established under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Act (PNGA). Under the PNGA, Mining Right of Way Act, Mineral Tenure Act, Geothermal Resources Act, and Coal Act, the board has jurisdiction to resolve disputes between landowners and companies that require access to private land to explore for, develop, or produce Crown-owned subsurface resources such as oil, gas, coal, minerals and geothermal.This positions receives, reviews and validates incoming submissions and clarifies appeal information with clients. Makes initial determinations or recommendations within established criteria and guidelines.   • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Minimum one-year experience interpreting and applying legislation and regulations.
  • Minimum one-year experience working in an office setting dealing with legal issues and/or case files.
  • Keyboard speed and accuracy at 50 words per minute, minimum.
  • Excellent proficiency in both written and verbal English.
Preferences may be given to applicants with:
  • A degree or certificate in business administration or a related field.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English.
  • One year- experience working in an office setting dealing with appraisal, real estate valuation or other land issues.
  • One year- experience applying the theories and principles of administrative law and administrative fairness/natural justice.
