The Commercial Manager will provide commercial support and assistance to the Mining & Metallurgy (M&M) North America and other Global M&M offices on as needed basis.There are two key aspects of the role, one will be developing and building strong relationships with internal clients, and another will be supporting the leadership, development and progression of the commercial function. You’ll have the ability and the desire to manage teams and deliver all aspects of your work to a very high standard. You will be able to work both independently and within the team.How will you contribute to the teamTo perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Participating in proposal kick-off and follow-up meetings.
  • Reviewing Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and highlighting commercial issues to Commercial Director and Senior Management.
  • Developing commercial strategy on bids and presenting it to Commercial Director and Senior Management.
  • Reviewing contracts with corporate insurance, treasury, taxation, and legal teams.
  • Coordinating with engineering and project management disciplines to develop cost estimates / price sheets for services mandates.
  • Ensure internal risk committee presentations complete with relevant commercial information for risk committee reviews.
  • Participating in risk committee reviews, documenting minutes and action items and following up on action items.
  • Assist the proposal development and commercial team to submit project approval requests through the internal Project Approval System (PAS).
  • Coordinating with proposal development team in the development of bids.
  • Ensuring all commercial bids are complete and submitted in-time to meet deadlines.
  • Document all relevant commercial information for records and audit purposes.
  • Participate in annual quality audits.
  • Risk Management on bids and projects.
  • Claims Management.
Additional Responsibilities include –
  • Proactively participate in the continuous improvement of business systems and processes.
  • Producing high quality written reports and data visualization.
  • Participate in project risk meetings.
  • Assist in facilitating risk meetings, developing project risk registers and cost risk allowance models.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Science, Business or equivalent.
Required Skills
  • Required experience in:
    • Commercial Governance
    • Bidding (Knowledge & experience in the win work cycle)
    • Project and / or Business Finance
    • Contract Management
    • Project Delivery
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Detail oriented.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel.
  • Proficient in MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to be flexible with working hours.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
