Job Description

JOB TITLE: Community Engagement Assistant/InternLOCATION: HybridREPORTS TO: Director of Community EngagementABOUT THE ROLE

  • Work with Community Engagement Coordinator and Director to ensure appropriate resource allocation to support internal and external community presentations and events.
  • Develop and implement evaluation methods to effectively obtain and assess feedback. Identify gaps and opportunities and recommend improvements to engagement activities and support
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve engagement issues with team members and key stakeholders and community partners.
  • Inform and schedule engagement activities
  • Assist with event planning associated duties and support Senior Community Engagement Coordinator
  • Perform administrative duties to assist the Director of Community Engagement in communication goals.
  • Develop and maintain insightful and relevant presentation content and other promotional materials for community engagement, customized for specific audiences
  • Distribute promotional materials on a timely manner.
  • Maintain relevant job aids, standardized responses and messaging to meet communication goals.
  • Assist in creating reports, assessing and implementing new programs as required
  • Promote and create awareness of UCW brand and share relevant engagement information at events and programs.
  • Assist in coordinating department meetings and recording objectives and vision of the department.
  • Act as point of contact for engagement activities, proactively building relationships with internal and external community members.
  • Assist in managing communication with students and students’ initiatives.
  • Assist in managing and updating stakeholder database
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications team on initiatives headed by Community Engagement team
  • Stay up-to-date and informed on BC post-secondary institution information
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Enrolled in undergraduate degree or recent graduate.
  • Related post-secondary education or combination of work experience and education is an asset
  • Understanding of and familiarity with post-secondary education field.
  • Experience in providing accessible client-centered information and support through various channels, including verbal, written, and visual
  • Experience delivering interactive presentations and facilitating groups of all sizes
  • Comfortable using and adapting to different presentation tools/virtual platforms and technology such as Teams, Zoom, and MS PowerPoint; experience using Canva is considered an asset.
