Reporting to the Manager, Terminal Operations, the successful candidate is responsible for the execution, oversight and day-to-day management of Terminal Operations service contracts.Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the day to day operation of multiple service contracts; this includes providing leadership and guidance in matters such as contractual terms and conditions and managing the change order process
  • Contributes to the contractor selection process, overseeing aspects with contract specifications, Key Performance Indicators, onboarding new service providers and regular extra services contract changes/requests.
  • Position plays a significant role in ensuring contracts are delivered according to budget, ensuring service contracts are providing safe, professional, innovative, prompt, effective and consistently high levels of service, as stipulated in their agreements with YVRAA
  • Monitoring service contract performance to ensure quality assurance levels are being maintained; this includes conducting assurance audits, providing data for monthly reports and implementing improvements to areas of concern
  • Managing various operational and capital budgets on a regular basis, which includes reviewing all service contracts to ensure validity and accuracy before authorizing payment, maintaining expense data and ensuring projects are delivered on-time and on-budget
  • Working closely with contractors and other YVR departments to find ways to enhance the customer experience; this includes looking for innovative ways to enhance the quality of service and efficiency
  • Providing input on capital projects and operational plans as it relates to the delivery of a high level of service to our internal and external customers
Key qualifications include:
  • Completion of a two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma, complemented by at least two years’ experience in contract management, project management and service implementation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Proven experience in a complex, operational customer service environment, with a clear understanding of the drivers of customer satisfaction; solid understanding of airport operations in the areas of passenger processing, terminal operations, aviation security and public safety is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to provide direction to contract and community service suppliers as well as teams of Airport Authority staff
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract services; contracting principles, processes and practices; and budgeting and forecasting
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written), including professional writing experience, in order to develop and deliver communications to internal and external customers or partners through various means (e.g., social media, bulletins, weekly meetings, website, proposals, operational plans, etc.)
  • Ability to manage time, stay organized and work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Effective problem solving, and decision-making skills; ability to take control of situations and exercise sound judgment in formulating quick decisions
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with an attention to detail
  • Proven ability to plan and execute tactical plans
  • Ability to multitask and have the flexibility to support multiple teams and business partners
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite with proven skills in MS Word and Excel
