INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING #004The W_SÃNEC School Board invites applications for the following position:1.0 FTE Continuing Counsellor, 6.25 hours per day, Monday to Friday, at the Saanich Adult Education Center (SAEC), beginning immediately.Job Summary:The SAEC is currently seeking a counselor to become an integral member of our school- based team. This position is responsible for providing direct social-emotional counseling and consultation to students and families. School Counsellors provide a continuum of preventative, developmental, remedial and intervention services. School Counselling functions can include individual, group and class work to provide both intervention and prevention support services. This role has responsibility for and supports promoting a healthy school environment.The successful candidate will be willing to facilitate group workshops and support students with personal or career counselling. Additionally, the successful candidate will work to support the W_SÃNEC School Board Counselling Team, which is comprised of the counsellors at the ÃU,WELEW_ Tribal School and W_SÃNEC Leadership Secondary School, under the leadership of Dr. Lisa Gunderson.Qualifications required:Master’s Degree in Counselling PsychologyCounselling experience at the Adult learning LevelValid BC Drivers LicenseOutstanding Communication and Interpersonal SkillsCompletion of Criminal Record Check (to be done upon hiring)Preference will be given to Registered Clinical Counselor CertificationApplications containing the following will be considered;Resume & cover letterCopy of Degree in CounsellingNames of three professional references (include name, phone & email)Preference will be given to First Nations Ancestry.
