Job Description

Credit Officer

Job SummaryAs a member of the Credit team, you will play an integral role in the effective monitoring and management of retail credit usage with Raymond James Ltd. You will utilize your experience in the securities industry and risk management knowledge to ensure compliance is maintained within regulatory and internal requirements.Essential duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control debits in Margin, Cash, and RRSP accounts for assigned branches;
  • Authorize EFT, wire transfer, and cheque requests based on risk management;
  • Approve internal transfers, account transfer-ins, as well as third party requests and stock withdrawals;
  • Assist in monitoring and approving trades on the Order Routing System for trade restricted accounts;
  • Respond to queries from all departments relating to Credit policies and procedures and regulatory rules;
  • Prepare regular capital reporting for Finance department based on IIROC capital requirements;
  • Approving incoming and outgoing cash transactions;
  • Review third party requests to ensure policy adherence and perform sanction screening;
  • Participate in department initiatives and project related to the Credit department and overall Operations division; and
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of
  • MS Office particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Skill in
  • Organizing, multi-tasking, and prioritizing; and
  • Paying strong attention to detail.

Educational / Previous Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of securities industry or related financial industry experience ;
  • Post-Secondary education ;
  • Fundamental investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry ;
  • Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook, or related courses are an asset ;
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills with previous client service experience an asset;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office suite particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook ;
  • Strong multi-tasking skills;
  • Work within daily deadlines in a high volume and demanding environment while maintaining a high level of service;
  • Excellent group dynamics and the desire to work in a team environment;
  • Proactive approach to problem solving;
  • Be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team;
  • Demonstrate a professional manner to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization; and
  • Verbal and written proficiency French is a strong asset.
