About the roleAre you an avid reader and book lover looking to kickstart a career in publishing The Legible Curation team may be the right fit for you! The Curation Intern will support our passionate team of curators to assist in selecting and promoting titles on Legibles storefronts, helping audiences around the world discover great books.What makes this job differentThis job is right for you if you are an excellent researcher, your favourite place is your local bookstore or library, you have a TBR pile that is constantly growing, and youre always up to speed on the latest releases and trending titles. Bonus points if you read ebooks at least 50% of the time and are familiar with the world of BookTok. You will have daily interactions with the industry at large and will work with content from a wide variety of publishers. Like us, youre passionate about literacy and the dissemination of knowledge and believe that reading is integral to education, the human experience, and has the ability to change the world. The Legible Curation Team is dedicated to finding hidden gems and elevating diverse authors, stories, and voices that have historically been marginalized by the traditional publishing industry. • Participate in weekly and ad hoc team meetings to develop and execute curation strategy across Legibles global storefronts, blog, and newsletter
• Partake in regular browsing of Legibles content offering to identifying, tag, and select content aligned with Legibles overall curation strategy
• Research industry and book buying trends, sales data and analytics, publisher information and release schedules, best seller lists, book reviews, and more to contribute to curation team meetings
• Assist in executing promotions and management of daily and weekly ebook deal features and thematic campaigns as required
• Assist in the preparation and vetting of curated lists by verifying assets, sales rights, pricing, and other defined parameters
• Assist in preparing reports to measure performance of curation features
• Proofread e-newsletter and blog content as assigned

About youSome key things about you

• A deep love of reading and readers and a strong commitment to the values of Legible: Beauty, sustainability, integrity, and accessibility
• A strong interest in bookselling, technology, e-commerce and e-reading
• You have a healthy balance of both creative and analytical skills and enjoy research and problem-solving
• Familiarity with bookselling practices and business models related to publishing, copyright, licensing, and content distribution
• Experience analyzing data, developing business cases, and presenting recommendations to senior staff and leadership
• Ability to balance attention to detail and swift execution in a start-up environment that is fast-paced, high-energy, cross-functional, and highly collaborative
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and ability to adapt to your audience
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Key experience and skills

• Completion of a post-graduate publishing program or other relevant internship or retail experience an asset
• Knowledge of bookselling and/or merchandising a diverse range of content (ebook and audiobook experience a plus)
• Strong research skills and experience developing content strategies
• Strong Google Suite and Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Google Sheets
• Experience with project management software, content management systems, data analysis tools, and email marketing an advantage
• Quick to learn new technologies and softwares
• Familiarity with e-commerce strategies and ONIX xml a strong asset
