Job Description

Cutover Manager – Contract position in Vancouver (Hybrid):On behalf of our client in Vancouver, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Cutover Manager with our client for a contract opportunity.Role Description:The Cutover Manager will provide technical expertise, strong project management skills, and specifically system cutover experience to drive the Company’s Cutover activities for the Integrated Renewal Program (IRP). Cutover activities will be centrally led by the Cutover Manager and the position will focus on developing the cutover timeline, approach, metrics, and schedule while executing the cutover activities while working in conjunction with functional leads, technical team members, PMO and OCM team members as well as other stakeholder groups. The Cutover Manager will build from scratch and execute the detailed pre-cutover, cutover, and post-cutover activities with guidance and input from the technical leads as well as working closely with the project Consultants.Responsibilities:

  • Builds and defines a holistic cutover approach while working closely with Workday Engagement Manager to incorporate Workday Cutover Methodology and Cutover Best Practices into the company’s environment.
  • Leads the development of the overall cutover strategy and develops the cutover timeline, approach, and readiness metrics while working closely with PMO and functional teams to determine interdependencies and impact.
  • Drives execution of the detailed Workday-specific pre-cutover, cutover, and post-cutover activities, with insight and guidance from the Workday Engagement Manager as well as having an overall understanding of the Workday solution at a high level. Will also be involved in tasks associated with the system and decommissioning of old systems.
  • Collaborate with functional groups across the campus to collect relevant information and to determine the correct sequencing of cutover activities while communicating regular statuses, issues, impacts, and action items with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Lead the execution of cutover activities for Go-Live and Pre/Post-Go-Live by managing and escalating dependencies, risks, and issues. Assesses issues regularly and removes potential roadblocks related to cutover activities and works towards solutions while advising the Project team and Program Director of impacts and issues.
  • Anticipates possible issues and develops backup/contingency plans for the cutover plan, in the event that cutover activities do not go as planned.
  • Tracks and manages overall cutover activities, risk lifecycles, issues, and action items in the standard cutover document and devises appropriate action plans for follow-up.
  • Manages all cutover-related activities and logistics in a highly detailed cutover checklist.
  • Manages company’s Cutover and Go-Live activities by providing direct leadership in the following:
    • Regular Stand-Up Meetings.
    • Regular progress reporting o Periodic Cutover Readiness Assessments through regular analysis o Input/materials for Go/No Go meetings.
    • Decision-making related to Go-Live, pre/post-Go-Live activities.
    • Monitors the cutover progress by assessing project milestones and the company’s environment regularly to make sound recommendations to remove roadblocks and issues as they arise.
    • Provide timely updates to the PMO and participates in the overall project management activities (e.g. schedules, RAID), where applicable.
    • Identify and determine key updates to be incorporated into a communications plan specifically for cutover activities. Actively engage with the Organizational Change Management workstream to build a solid communication plan related to cutover activities and disseminate information in the forms of status updates, in-person communication, and written updates as needed to IRP team members and to the company’s stakeholders who may be impacted.
    • Builds and maintains strong working relationships and collaborates regularly with IRP team members, company Stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.
Requirements:
  • 9+ years of strong project Management experience and extensive cutover experience for the deployment of a large system is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of interdependencies and impacts for complex cutover projects in relation to other project-related tasks and milestones.
  • Solid understanding of the IT environment (including what it takes to “sunset” or decommission a system) and overall functional requirements is required.
  • Strong understanding of technical systems and their limitations from a cutover perspective
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of the software development process.
  • Strong experience in managing cutover activities for ERP or systems implementation projects.
  • Understanding of cloud solutions in relation to other integrated point solutions.
  • Knowledge of project management disciplines and best practices in cutover activities and systems implementation.
