Job Description

Dailies OperatorPicture ShopPicture Shop, a Streamland Media company is seeking Dailies Operators for our Front-End Services. The role of Dailies Operator is dedicated to supporting the dailies creation process within the Front-End Service department. Primarily focused around metadata management, media wrangling, and QC, the Dailies Operator will assist all Dailies Colorists with tasks for a variety of concurrent projects.This position requires a high level of computer aptitude in a fast-paced film & TV production environment. Ideal candidates will have the ability to multitask while working under time constraints maintaining 100% accuracy. In depth knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems, file management including file hierarchy and file copies, UI navigation as well as familiarity with hard drive technologies. Previous experience with software such as Colorfront EXD, Avid, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, After Effects or generic editing programs is a plus though not mandatory. Color Correction experience also a plus. Candidate must be flexible with work schedule as overnight shift work is required.Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain original camera digital negative, along with relevant information/reports.
  • Ingest, checksum, and organize Camera Media to facility storage.
  • Qc the media for corruption and errors and extracts and archives the original camera negatives.
  • Identify the dailies deliverables required, transcode, and create appropriate deliverables as required by the Production.
  • Avid literacy to create and prepare media for editorial and Q.C. of dailies
  • Handle dailies equipment, follow colour pipelines, workflows and specifications, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensuring the security of client media is crucial.
  • Proactively updating personal knowledge of cameras and formats.
Requirements:
  • Diploma in Broadcasting, Film or Multimedia program, or equivalent working experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Colorfront, Baselight, Resolve, and Avid is a plus.
  • Basic computer hardware and software knowledge of both Mac and PC.
Including general knowledge of Unix commands.
  • Solid knowledge of current digital video file formats and native digital cinema camera codecs.
  • Strong attention to detail: Establishes and defines clear systems, working practices and procedures, accurately checks own work for errors e.g., proofreading, and data entry, keeps clear detailed and auditable records and monitors quality of work output.
  • Flexible and Adaptability: Recognizes the environment may be constantly changing and adjusts his/her own approach or methods to work effectively within a variety of situations.
