Job Description

Data Operations Coordinator, Provincial Blood Coordinating Office (PBCO)LM LabsVancouver BCAs per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.The PBCO Data Operations Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the data integrity of all PBCO information systems.What you’ll doTechnical:

  • Schedule, receive and import data from all BC Hospitals and Yukon. Perform quantitative analysis to ensure records are complete and troubleshoots and resolves data issues involving import errors.
  • Lead the validation of revised/modified hospital data transfer files, in close collaboration with the hospital validator. Prepare validation summaries and sign off documents as required at the completion of validation.
  • Review provincial transfusion reaction reports and enters data ensuring compliance with all associated data reporting requirements for the national transfusion reaction reporting system, including timely and accurate data exports to the Public Health Agency of Canada on behalf of all reporting hospitals in the province.
  • Perform privileged administrative functions in all PBCO applications, including updating and maintaining data registry tables to ensure appropriate mapping of institutions, product mnemonics and product modifiers in order to ensure data quality and integrity.
Working relationships:
  • Track all incoming internal and external data requests and ensures all requests are completed on a timely basis. Distribute reports to internal and external stakeholders and collaborate with team to ensure ad hoc data requests are validated and complete.
  • Provide input and advice on the development and implementation of PBCO information management systems in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the integration, effectiveness and sustainability of PBCO information management systems by proactively consulting with internal and external system stakeholders.
Leadership:
  • Lead the development and improvement of data collection in order to ensure quality data and to realize increased efficiencies.
Decision-Making
  • Retrieve and extract data, analyze and summarize statistical information, perform calculations and tally to identify inconsistencies in data.
  • Interpret the data and information collected, and its potential applicability.
  • Propose alternative methods to obtain, extract and analyze data collected to improve data quality and consistency.
What you bring
  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Data Management or related field, OR to a Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist with a minimum of five (5) years recent experience in a hospital Transfusion Medicine Laboratory and/or working with health information in a sophisticated computer environment.
You also have the ability to:
  • Demonstrate required moderate to advanced data management skills and a high degree of computer literacy
  • Use database, spreadsheet and word processing software at a moderate to advanced level. Knowledge of SQL is an asset.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; expertise in technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate superior analytical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot, comprehend, analyze and resolve complex issues.
