Proof of vaccination status will be required.Summary:Within the context of a client- and family-centred model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.Reporting to the Regional Manager, Business Optimization, the Data Solutions Specialist is an expert in Microsoft BI Tools (SSIS, SSRS and Power BI), SQL Server, T-SQL and Azure services. This role implements scalable, modern and effective Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for the Lower Mainland Health Information Management and Health Authorities. The Data Solutions Specialist supports HIM users and leaders, including the Senior Leadership Team, through the innovative use and understanding of large data sets. The role is responsible for building dashboards, ETL pipelines and data integration solutions with both on-premise and cloud database applications. This Data Solutions Specialist also plays a pivotal role in designing, developing and maintaining HIM’s data infrastructure, including its databases, warehouses and pipelines, in order to support operations, decision-makings and strategic planning at HIM.Qualifications / Skills and Education:EducationBachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Health Informatics or related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience with data modeling, ETL, Microsoft BI tools (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS and Power BI), T-SQL, Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, Azure SQL Database and Azure Synapse Analytics, with a track record of processing large datasets. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Cloud certificates related to Azure preferred.Skills and AbilitiesA demonstrated knowledge of moving data across multiple platforms using Microsoft Business Intelligence stack: SSIS, SSAS, SSRS (2017) and dashboard design using visualization tool such as Power BI.Demonstrated ability to build and optimize large data pipelines, architectures and data sets and computing tools such as Spark, MySQL, Azure, AWS, etc.Coding proficiency in SQL queries, modern programming languages (C#, Python, Java etc.) and/or other scripting language.Demonstrated proficiency working with both relational (SQL) and non-relational databases (NoSQL).Demonstrated understanding of data privacy, security and related tools such as anonymization and encryption.Effectively work in an ETL framework driven environment.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Strong background in data architecture, data quality, data mapping, and data structures.Ability to understand and prioritize user and business requirements, and to conceptualize information processing solutions in response to them, including analyze, scope and define work effort required to correct program deficiencies and problems.Demonstrated knowledge of OLAP technologies and dimensional modeling.Proven ability to interpret data files and record layouts to map fields between multiple systems and database tables.Strong understanding of database and business intelligence concepts.Proven ability to prepare, maintain and publish ETL documentation, including source-to-target mappings and business-driven transformation rules.Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated attention to detail and maintaining high quality standards.Proven ability to plan and execute complex projects.Ability to work to independently, meeting deadlines under pressure, with minimal supervision and frequent interruptions.Ability to clearly and fluently translate technical findings to non-technical partners and to communicate to multiple audiences using data visualizations and analytics techniques.Strong team player with a client/user lifecycle of HIM Data Management Platform (DMP) and its BI solutions, including reporting, ETL processes, data integration, data warehousing and data migration.In consultation with the Data Engineers, provides input into the implementation of data models and solutions for analytics and all relevant functions.Resolves data-related technical issues and performs root-cause analysis by tracing data transformation through different stages in the automated data pipeline, troubleshooting programming errors, optimizing queries and investigating the impact of business processes.Participates in HIM’s data migration from on-premise SQL server to Azure Data Lake.Participates in creating pipelines and mapping Data Flows to load and transform data in Azure Data FactoryBuilds and queries data using Azure SQL Database.Performs data Analysis using Azure Synapse Analytics.Responds to ad-hoc, on-demand and scheduled business user information requests as they relate to services and support provided by the business groups.Produces and maintains HIM performance indicators, dashboards and operational reports and ensures they address business needs efficiently and effectively.Adapts ETL processes as necessary to accommodate changes in source systems and target business user requirements.Develops, maintains and schedules ETL data flows/workflows/jobs, and provides daily support of these processes once implemented.Debugs, monitors and troubleshoots technical solutions to resolve production issues.Liaises with the Information Management/Information Technology Services (IMITS) at all the Health Organizations and works in conjunction with them to resolve systems issues and coordinate activities.Administers security settings and access to the HIM DMP and related systems.Supports all business users with the use of HIM DMP tools and in deployment activities such as user acceptance testing, user training, product demos and product evaluation.Works with and gathers requirements from HIM
