Job Description

Located at the Site C Dam, Peace River Hydro Partners is the prime contractor on the BC Hydro Site C Clean Energy Project. We need you to help us build this legacy!Under the general direction of the General Superintendent, the Earthworks Superintendent will assist with the planning and schedule activities for the construction and/or repair of heavy civil engineering works including excavation, haul, fill, stockpiling, paving, drainage, utility and other associated works. The Earthworks Superintendent is responsible to support the overall Project requirements that work is safely completed, on schedule, on budget and in compliance with the contract requirements. All work must be performed safely, efficiently and completed to the highest standards of quality and workmanship.Please note: this position is open to Vancouver candidates, however our site is based out of Fort St. John, BC. We have a hub in Vancouver and charter flights to and from site are paid for by the company, along with camp accommodation.Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring construction work schedules including look ahead schedules
  • Assist in coordinating subcontractors, arrange and attend subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Knowledge of traffic management and traffic control
  • Assist to mobilize the assigned resources in order to safely and effectively achieve project completion
  • Assist in keeping and maintaining the daily site diary and appropriate records
  • Assist in inventory control of all materials, plant and equipment assigned to the Project and ensure any relevant calibration and safety maintenance records are current
  • Prepare reports as per the project procedures manual and requirements of the contract
  • Ensures that the construction work is performed in accordance with the contract documents and to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship including company QC Plan
  • Ensures work is carried out in accordance with company safety policy including OHSA, Provincial and Federal legislation and labour agreements
  • Take part in design reviews as part of the construction team
  • Ensure that the Quality Management Plan procedures are followed in full including sign-off on requests for inspections and any corrective measures required
  • Follow current codes of conduct as per the company standards and the contract
  • Keep the Construction Manager informed of significant developments on the project
  • Provide respective input to project commercial processes as required
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor
  • Deliver the Construction aspects of the Project to meet Quality, safety, environmental requirements in compliance with the Contract specifications, schedule and Budget
  • Promote Safety on the project
  • Works under general supervision, having contact with supervisors on a regular basis
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understands and can follow requirements to meet safety, quality, environmental, schedule and budget requirements of the project
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • Must be safety orientated, self-motivated and work well with others
  • Have good organizational skills and be disciplined
Experience/ Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in the heavy civil construction (ideally in earthmoving infrastructure projects e.g. dams, highways, underground utilities)
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience of supervisory experience as a Superintendent
  • Experience in a similar role on major civil engineering design-build projects
  • Proven track record of ability, backed up with acceptable references
  • Technical school background or equivalent years of construction supervision experience
  • Ability to understand and work with engineering and technical drawings as well as Project Schedules
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment and move up objects up to 30 pounds
Please Note: This is a site-based position located at the Site C Dam in Fort St. John, British Columbia and full vaccination status is required per BC Hydro for site access. Preference will be given to qualified, local candidates. However, we will also consider fly in/out candidates based out of Vancouver, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton. Rotational employees are required to work a 14/7 rotation; flights and camp accommodations are provided while on shift.Job Type: Full-timeAdditional pay:
