The role involves the processing of submitted manuscripts on Manuscript Central, approaching potential referees for the peer review of papers, monitoring the progress of reviews, and maintaining the journal’s social media account.Organizational StatusReports directly to EPA Managing Editor (Dr. Jamie Peck). Position works closely with Editorial Manager Dr Katie Nudd in EPA’s UK office.Work Performed

  • Maintain regular communication with Managing Editor
  • Monitor paper submissions on Manuscript Central
  • Prepare paper submissions for review by Managing Editor
  • Contact authors concerning paper status
  • Approach and secure referees for papers accepted for review
  • Liaise with handling editors and Editorial Manager, Dr Katie Nudd
  • Monitor papers through review on Manuscript Central
  • Contact authors with editorial decisions
  • Monitor selected theme issues, liaising with authors and guest editors as appropriate
  • Maintain the journal’s social media presence in accordance with procedures established by the Managing Editor.
Consequence of Error/JudgementThe position works under general managerial direction and the work is reviewed in terms of effectiveness and achievement of objectives. The incumbent will be required to show judgement and decision making which has the potential to impact the journal’s reputation and overall efficiency.Supervision ReceivedWorks under the direction of faculty supervisor. Work is reviewed in terms of adherence to guidelines and industry standards.Supervision GivenNone.Minimum QualificationsHigh School graduation, plus two years of post-secondary education, plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred QualificationsBA in a social sciences field with formal training in academic research an asset.
