Job Title: Education AssistantJob Summary: Reporting to the principal at Tlisa_lagilakw School, the primary responsibility is to provide support services to students.Job Responsibilities:Without restricting the generality of the purpose above, the Educational Assistant shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:Assist in the supervision of studentsMay assist students in various life skills activities and assist the teacher in planning and evaluating the progress in those activities, which can be inside or outside of the school settingObserve and discuss the progress of students with teachers and other supportive professional staff to support personal program planning meetingsExercise judgment in modifying student behaviour by, re-directing, and providing positive reinforcement within pre-established guidelinesIncorporate Kwakwala and Kwakwaka’wakw content into interactions with students as much as possibleBe willing to engage in life-long learning with respect to training and professional developmentAttend meetings as requestedConduct oneself in a manner appropriate to a professional learning environmentAt no time should an Educational Assistant discuss, in public, information pertaining to a studentPrepare instructional materials for classroom or student useAssist students with reading, writing, speech, assignments, tests and comprehension of curriculum based on student needs and/or Inclusion and Intervention PlansParticipate on the school-based teams and committees as requiredTreat students in a respectful, responsible, and fair manner with due consideration to the students’ social and psychological developmentMaintain effective and collaborative relationships with school staff and parents/guardiansProvide recess and noon hour supervisionParticipate in extra-curricular activitiesOther related duties as they may be required from time to time.Satisfactory criminal records and vulnerable sector searchIf you are interested in this position you may submit your covering letter & resume by June 27, 2022 to: humanresources@namgis.bc.caQuick Apply
