Join us!The role of the Engineering Officer is to support all customers with the tracking, reporting and data analysis of engineering measures, in particular those related to Track Geometry and Rail Flaw Detection, and to perform data and trend analyses from all sources to achieve desired results. Customers who require this data will include (but are not limited to):the Engineering department for all Regions (Canada and US);CN legal department;Government agencies such as Transport Canada, the Surface Transportation Board, the Federal Railroad Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.This role is also involved in using technology to develop sustainable solutions for process issues that arise. This position is based in Homewood, IL, however, it focuses on the entire CN System and therefore business travel will be required approximately 10% of the time for Track Geometry Car support.Key responsibilities:Preparing all required reports for all regulatory bodies i.e.: Transport Canada, FRA.Managing Rail Flaw Detection Test data and Rail Grinding data from all sources and ensure testing frequency is maintained.Weekly reporting of Rail Grinding and Rail Flaw Detection frequency.Quarterly and annual reporting of trackage to various regulatory agencies and internal customers.Developing new effective process, such as automatic download data from external sources to CN, uploading geometry exception info onto GPS, manage ENSCO data in a local computer.Using Microsoft Access and Excel to prepare monthly reports to support Functional and Regional goals and objectives.Managing all Track Geometry Test Data from a variety of sources, including CN Track Geometry cars CN15008, CN1501 and Holland TrackSTAR.Data Management and user support on the following systems:Track Condition System (TCS) system.ImageMap geometry.ENSCO geometry.Geometry cars operation support.Rail Flaw Detection (RFD) data.PS system.Track Condition System (TCS) II system testing and implementation.Assistance with Track Inspection System (TIS) trackage cleanup,General assistance to the field with computer and software usage on specialized issues outside of the scope of the CN HELP desk (i.e.: the HELP desk doesn not answer how to set up a GPS).Many other requests outside of these duties regarding Ad Hoc studies and reportsAbout CNAs a leading North American transportation and logistics company, CN is a true backbone of the economy.
