Job Description

Role: ESL Instructor (Summer Youth Program)Reports to: Juniors Program ManagerLocation: North Vancouver, BCJob Type: Short-term contractStarting Pay Rate: $27.37-$29.78 per hour, plus a 25% premium for teaching hours (more details below)Description:ILSC Education Group is excited to launch the North Vancouver Summer Youth Program! We are expecting around 200 enthusiastic international students for our young learners group (9-12 years old) and youth group (13-18 years old) from all the corners of the world including Brazil, Mexico, France, Spain, Japan, among others. The program is going to take place in one of the secondary schools in the heart of North Vancouver with easy access via public transportation and with great surroundings from June 27 – August 19, 2022.We are looking for dynamic and energetic ESL instructors to teach English in our 3 daily courses and lead their students on our Wednesday afternoon educational field trips. The program runs Monday – Thursday from 9 am to 3:50 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12:10 pm, between 25 - 28 hours per week. The busiest period of the program is in the first 3 weeks of July, and successful candidates must be available for those weeks.The starting rate of pay for this position is $27.37 - $29.78 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus a 25% premium for all contact instructional hours of work.Job Duties:The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepares and teaches lessons utilizing various materials and technologies as required.
  • Maintains current and accurate class records.
  • Enters attendance records into computerized database daily.
  • Assist with the welcome, induction and testing of students on the first morning.
  • Supervise students on school trips.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
  • Bachelors degree and approved TESL Certificate or Bachelor Education with experience of teaching international students.
  • Experience teaching and working with children and/or teenagers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Preference given to teachers with TESL Certificates.
Other Terms and Conditions:
  • This position requires union membership.
  • Proof of identity and qualifications will be required.
  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment to work with youth.
  • Reference requests will ask specifically if there is any reason why you should not be allowed to work with persons under 18.
