Job Description

Role: ESL TeacherReports to: Director of StudiesLocation: Vancouver, BCDescription:ILSC-Vancouver is seeking qualified and dynamic ESL Teachers available for on-call substitute teaching, between the hours of 8:30am and 5:15pm, Monday through Friday.Successful candidates will be comfortable teaching a diverse range of adult English Language programs and courses. A TESOL certification from a Canadian-approved institution is required for this position.The starting rate of pay for this position is $27.37 - $29.78 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus a 25% premium for all contact instructional hours of work.Job Duties:The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaches lesson(s) prepared by the classroom teacher utilizing various materials and technologies as required.
  • Leaves details for the teacher when finished covering the class to support a smooth transition back to the classroom teacher.
  • Maintains current and accurate class records.
  • Enters attendance records into computerized database daily.
  • Enforce English Only Policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
  • TESOL certification from a Canadian-approved institute is required
  • Ability to communicate fluently and accurately in written and oral English
  • Demonstrated proficiency with current technology tools and online learning platforms including:
    • Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and Excel
    • Zoom and Teams in a classroom setting
    • Online and hybrid teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated to deal effectively and courteously with students and staff, who may come from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
