Job Description

Best job EVER (if you love cats)Our energetic team is looking to welcome a new, part-time Event Coordinator to join meowfest! As the festival grows, we are looking for a charismatic animal-lover who excels at handling event logistics, lives for building relationships, and thrives when multi-tasking. This role will report to and work closely with the Event Manager and Senior Event Coordinator.If you are five or more of the things on this list, this position could be purrfect for you:

What your average week and daily tasks look like:Event Coordination
  • Assisting with event day set up and take down
  • Day-of vendor, talent, sponsor, and volunteer coordination
Sponsorship and Sales
  • Secure sponsorship opportunities to both new and existing clients of the event
  • Prepare and deliver documents for marketing, accounting, surveys, and forecasting
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential sponsorships
Social Media and Content Marketing
  • Manage, engage, curate, and create content for each meowfest social media channel
  • Create content and copy for meowfest blog, newsletters, website, and ads.
  • Carry out influencer and PR outreach
The following are essential:
  • 2+ years experience in event coordination
  • 2+ years experience in a sales role or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience in copywriting, and able to provide work samples
  • Excellent at communicating with kindness, in written and spoken English
  • Well-organized with excellent multi-tasking abilities.
  • A true self-starter with the ability to meet multiple critical deadlines
  • Adept at using programs such as Google Suite, Slack, Shopify, and Stripe
  • Onboard with BYOD (bring your own device)
  • Available to work within regular business hours, PST
  • Able to start at 8-10 hours/week, increasing to 20-40 hours/week starting in June
The following are an asset:
  • Post-secondary education in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Business or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in social media management, with a proven track record of success working with various social media platforms
  • Previous work within a sponsorship or fundraising position
  • Master of negotiation
  • Preferably located in Vancouver, BC, but remote work is an option
