Job Description

  • Expedite function bookings, writing menus, preparing resumes, event orders etc.
  • Compile and distribute conference agendas and event orders
  • Respond to all inquiries regarding catering space availability in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain a variety of accounts to include social, corporate and galas
  • Ensure detailed and open communication with all operating departments to ensure smooth execution of convention details
  • Conduct pre and post conference meetings with groups to plan and address strengths and weaknesses of an event while soliciting repeat business
  • Contracting and servicing corporate groups and galas
  • Facilitate daily Catering/Banquet/Kitchen meetings to ensure perfection n service delivery
  • Build partnerships with the Banquets team to ensure service standards are maintained
  • Build relationships between Events and the Operating departments
  • Conduct site inspections for conventions, corporate and group business
  • Ensure the efficiency of Opera to track, solicit, book, produce BEOs and follow-up on accounts
  • Build a close partnership with the Sales department to ensure all contractual terms agreed upon are carried out as well as to maximize function space for the highest profitability for the hotel
  • Assist in developing new business ideas and the promotion of existing business within all market segments
  • Ensure close relationships are established and maintained with clients to encourage repeat business
  • Resolve guest complaints when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
  • Hospitality Management degree or a Post-Secondary degree required
  • Minimum 2 years Catering/Event Services or Sales Manager experience in a luxury hotel
  • Extensive Food and Beverage knowledge
  • Knowledge of meeting space capacities pertaining to health and safety procedures and terminology of meeting room set-ups
  • Extensive knowledge of Opera, Work and Windows based programs
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must possess a strong sense of exceeding in providing quality service to our internal and external customers
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities with a high degree of professionalism
  • Must be able to and enjoy working in a busy environment with minimum supervision
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • This position requires work on holidays, weekends and other non-day shifts
