Job Description

Carpenter-Career OpportunityFor the past 3 years, Fairview Builders Services has built a reputation for excellence in pre-construction, construction management, and general contracting services for commercial, school district, and BC housing projects. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Contribute as a member of the FBS Team utilizing our values of safety, teamwork, trust, accountability, continuous learning, and high performance
  • Promote and maintain good working relationships and collaboration with peers, clients, consultants, and suppliers
  • Ensure safety is a priority that is managed in every project
  • Follow blueprints and building plans to meet the project requirements
  • Using power and manual tools to construct and repair building frameworks and structures made from wood and other materials
  • Build and set forms for footings, walls, and slabs, and frame and finish exterior walls, roofs, and decks
  • Frame interior walls and windows, build stairs and install drywall, crown molding, doors, and cabinets·
  • Tile floors and lay wood floors and carpet
  • Measure, cut, shape, and install structures
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures
  • Use hand tools including squares, levels, and chisels, as well as many power tools, such as sanders, circular saws, nail guns, and welding machines to build structures
  • Other duties, as required
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • 5+ years in-field construction carpentry experience; Certified Red Seal Carpenter is a strong asset
  • First aid, confined space, and fall protection training are strong assets (training provided)
  • Physically able to safely and repetitively lift and carry at least 50 pounds on a regular basis and stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Detail oriented, proactive, and a self-starter
  • Proven ability to read, understand and interpret building plans
  • Owning your own hand toolset is preferred
  • Open to learning from peers, trades, and our Site Superintendent
  • Open to problem solving as a member of our team
  • Ability to take direction and work independently
  • Open to train and mentor apprentices, labourers
  • Ability to work full shifts from 7:00-4:00, 5 days a week, and weekends and nights occasionally
  • Ability to work in different weather and terrains
  • Must have your own transportation with the ability to work multiple worksites in the lower mainland
  • Must have full PPE: Steel toe boots, hard hat, etc.
