Finishing Carpenter - Career OpportunityFor the past 3 years, Fairview Builders Services has built a reputation for excellence in pre-construction, construction management, and general contracting services for commercial, school district, and BC housing projects. Our collaborative and support-based culture is also structured to provide leadership and guidance for the next generation by building long-term relationships and mentorships.We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Finish Carpenter to complete the finishing touches on trim and carpentry work for different construction and manufacturing projects. You may work on a variety of projects, including cabinet making, framing, decking, window and stair customizations, crown molding, and baseboard installations.Our ideal candidate is an experienced trim or finishing carpenter that has an aptitude and interest for precision and unique build requirements from clients.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Core Values

  • Promote and maintain good working relationships and collaboration with peers, clients, consultants, and suppliers
  • Ensure safety is a priority that is managed in every project
Carpentry
  • Perform finish and trim carpentry work according to plans and specifications
  • Measure, cut, and install various fixtures and millwork for doors, windows, ceiling panels, staircases, decking, furniture, etc.
  • Erect scaffolding or ladders as needed
  • Collaborate with other carpenters, journeymen, and supervisors to complete projects
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with building components and equipment
  • Follow established regulations and advocate for safety on each worksite
  • Other duties, as required including general labour
Skills and Abilities Required
  • Completion of a relevant finish carpentry training program or apprenticeship or at least 2 years of carpentry experience
  • Ability to work full shifts from 7:00-4:00, Monday-Friday, and weekends occasionally
  • First aid, confined space, and fall protection training are strong assets (training provided)
  • Physical stamina for lifting equipment and working at various heights and in tight spaces
  • Physically able to safely and repetitively lift and carry at least 50 pounds on a regular basis and stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and a self-starter
  • Strong communication and troubleshooting skills
  • Open to learning from peers, trades, and our Site Superintendent
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision
  • Ability to work in different weather and terrains
  • Proven ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints
  • Must have your own transportation with the ability to work multiple worksites in the lower mainland
  • Must have full PPE: Steel toe boots, hard hat, etc.
