The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.Position title: Firstweek Assistant CoordinatorDepartment: AMS EventsReports to: Events ManagerEmployee status: Term, AppointedLength of term: June 15 – October 15Hours per week: 30-40 hours per weekCompensation: Tier 1Position Purpose:This position offers a unique opportunity to use your knowledge of student life to work with the AMS Events Department in organizing and implementing a week-long festival in September dedicated to welcoming new and returning students to campus life.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist the Firstweek coordinator in all duties including but not limited to:Recruit, train and supervise Firstweek staff for working during FirstweekCreate and schedule Firstweek programs and events in consultation with the AMS Events Department, Executive,Food and Beverage Department and Bookings DepartmentManage or delegate management for all events during FirstweekSecure all necessary venues, equipment, power, artists, and special staff for Firstweek, working with the AMS Events DepartmentPromote and market the Firstweek events to the entire student bodyLiaise with campus and AMS organizations (UBC Orientations, Imagine UBC, Housing and Conferences, Student Involvement and others) to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated student orientation experienceLive by the values and mission of the AMS throughout the tenureOther duties as requiredQualifications and ExperienceMust be a currently registered student at UBC VancouverExcellent communication skillsKnowledgeable and familiar with student life at UBCInterest and knowledge in virtual events and live streaming platformsAbility to manage multiple projectsStrong leadership skills and the ability to manage a large staffAbility to work collaboratively and communicate effectively on shared projectsSocial media experience in Instagram, Tik Tok is an assetCreative promotional and marketing ideasExperience in event management and programming experience an assetGraphic design experience is an assetTO APPLY:Please submit your resume and cover letter by clicking the 'Apply Now" button below.Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted until June 16th, 2021.Thank you for your interest at the AMS.
