This 111-year old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of approximately $58 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15 day annual summer Fair which averages 800,000 guests each year, Playland amusement park which welcomes 375,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, year-round events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. With a focus on these core values, we are committed to achieving our mission which is to “Deliver Memorable Experiences” for all who interact with the PNE whether it is our guests, our employees, or the community.Under the direction of the Director Tech Services, and supervising the plumbing team, the Foreperson III – Trades Plumber will ensure that the required plumbing and gas fitting tasks are completed on site. This position is responsible for ensuring that the plumbing team is in compliance with WorksafeBC regulations, other applicable legislation, and company policies.**Why join our Team

*What will you do this year*In your role as a Foreperson III – Trades Plumber, your primary accountabilities will include:
  • Planning, organizing, assigning, assisting, supervising, and reviewing the work of the plumbing team involved in the plumbing and gas fitting trades.
  • Holding the PNE’s Plumbing Business and Gas Contracting License.
  • Preparing project estimates, requisition materials, equipment, labour, and maintaining cost records.
  • Ensuring systematic inspections, maintenance, and repair of park facilities.
  • Developing, recommending, and applying new or improved work techniques and methods; employ the use of machinery, equipment, and tools applicable to the trade.
  • Aiding in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Conducting regular toolbox talks, hazard assessments and equipment inspections.
  • Ensuring teams under supervision are working within WCB regulations.
  • Recommending new equipment needed to achieve efficient operations in trade.
  • Inspecting work in progress and upon completion for conformance of plans, instructions, and codes.
  • Liaising with other Forepersons and staff to co-ordinate specific trade projects.
  • Appointing and assigning duties to lead hands during the Fair.
  • Operating vehicles and equipment as required.
  • Effect a systematic maintenance and repair program ensuring that all documentation is completed and readily accessible.
  • Developing and maintaining records, written reports, and daily timesheets.
  • Interpreting the Collective Agreement correctly to help prevent grievances.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
What else
  • A Trades Qualification (TQ) Certificate as a Journeyman Plumber is required.
  • A Gas Certificate and Backflow Preventer Certificate for the Province of BC is required.
  • A minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in plumbing, mechanical, gas, and water main installation and maintenance is required.
  • A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience supervising and leading a team of skilled plumbers is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing and gas fitting trades is required.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, and submittal of an up-to-date Driver’s Abstract confirming a clean driving record (and re-submit upon license renewal) is required.
  • Proven experience in project management, ensuring deadlines are met and project roadblocks are communicated.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage interpersonal skills, including communication, diplomacy, and flexibility, to establish and maintain effective work relationships with management, staff, contractors, and the public.
  • Experience operating mobile mechanical and aerial lift equipment.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and work sketches.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow corporate and department policies and procedures, and reliably attend work without lateness or attendance issues.
  • May be required to work overtime in emergency situations and during peak operational periods.
  • Physically capable of safely performing assigned work in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, working outdoors, lifting, walking, and working in awkward positions.
