Job PostingBrightside is a soon-to-be-open all-day cafe on West Broadway in Kitsilano.Our team has over two decades of experience owning and operating cafes and roasting really, really good coffee. Were looking for someone to lead our front-of-house program who shares our passion, ambition, and care for what they do and the people they do it with.Do you lead by example, are responsible, friendly, and organized Do you love good food, beer, wine, cocktails Are you knowledgable and curious about wine Do you love making connections with customers Do you have a knack for remembering names & faces Do you approach your job with a high degree of professionalism, but also know how to have enough fun to make sure the room has excellent vibes Do you see yourself as a leader who thrives in a positive, supportive atmosphere and approaches their role with patience and empathy If you are all these things (and, of course, so much more), excellent, wed love to talk with you.Just a few things we would be looking for you to do:– A passion for hospitality, wine, beer, cider and cocktails– Experience in a food service supervisory role– A calm and kind demeanour– Comfortable with cash handling, scheduling and delagtion– Proficiency in Google Workspace is preferred– Foodsafe Level 1 and Serving it Right considered an asset– Set a positive tone and strong work ethic, leading by example.– Lead in the development of Brightside’s front-of-house process and policies, and offer input and ideas for company-wide processes and policies– Hire, train and develop a team of service obsessed individuals– Keep the team motivated and working, checking for quality and thoroughness– Keep Inventory for all front-of-house items and liquor– Notice if equipment operates properly and report any maintenance need– Promote and uphold health and safety regulationsSome very basic qualifications we might expect:– Minimum 3 years of experience in the sevice, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership position– Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently– Capable of delegating multiple tasks– An aptitude for organization and cleanliness– Strong leadership and management skills.
