Job Description

ProjectThe Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tonnes per year of LNG.Woodfibre LNG Limited is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.PositionOur Human Resources (HR) team is responsible for mobilizing our people nationally and globally in support of the Company’s talent agenda while ensuring the Company’s compliance in moving people domestically and across borders. Our focus is creating a positive employee experience for our people while working with our stakeholders to assess & manage the complex compliance requirements of our programs.In collaboration with the broader HR team, the Global Mobility Specialist will facilitate the movement of our people on short-term and long-term assignments to various worksites in which we operate. The team also supports all international and domestic relocations for the Canadian firm and assists with Canadian immigration and permanent residency matters.Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will:

  • Provide consultative support before and during international assignments & transfers, as well as during repatriation/localization, including assignment cost analysis, expatriate orientations, vendor coordination, and preparation of assignment balance sheets;
  • Manage and maintain the Program’s policies, guidelines and processes relating to the domestic and international movement of employees across the organization’s various operating jurisdictions. Apply and integrate the terms and requirements of policies and guidelines as part of assignment and expatriate arrangements;
  • Participate in the execution and administration of WLNG’s global mobility program as part of the broader HR team, managing client relationships, third-party vendors and internal service providers;
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees, managers, HR, Legal, Finance, and Payroll for mobility (immigration/relocation/taxation) issues; identify when to escalate issues and coordinate with the relevant group;
  • Coordinate services and engagements with partners (tax, immigration, payroll, HR) and third-party vendors (relocation), including cost projection calculations;
  • Oversee and organize initiations, documentation collection, and tracking of each assignee’s relocation process throughout the life cycle;
  • Review our Program to ensure it accounts for risks (e.g., tax, immigration, compliance) and constraints; highlight potential risks and limitations and provide solutions to mitigate them and overcome them;
  • Suggest enhancements to our global mobility strategy/program and relocation support policies as required;
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the business and structure to create global mobility solutions that are aligned with long-term business goals, strategies, and frameworks;
  • Prepare and submit immigration applications and partner with the service provider to support mobility needs;
  • Partner and lead engagement with service providers in areas of relocation, taxation, compliance, housing, education and onboarding to ensure they provide unique end-to-end employee experience and service delivery for assignees and their families;
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the Global Mobility program by building strong relationships and collaboration with internal stakeholders to develop, govern and maintain Global Mobility policies.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of seven (7) or more years of relevant experience in global mobility matters across multiple countries is required.
  • CGMP™ designation is highly preferred;
  • Post-secondary qualifications or relevant post-secondary education is desirable;
  • Possesses a business partner mindset and influencing skills and demonstrated ability to work with various levels of stakeholders and provide practical guidance;
  • A solid understanding of cross-border taxation & immigration matters;
  • High level of critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze and interpret complex information and develop innovative solutions and strategies in response to a broad range of challenges and issues spanning multiple countries;
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with peers and the mobility community (internally and externally) to create a first-class, seamless experience for employees and new hires;
  • A commitment to ensuring candidates receive a highly professional and well-regarded experience throughout the relocation process;
  • Proficient in using technology including Excel and Powerpoint;
  • Experience in running complex calculations and reconciliations; and superior attention to detail.
