  • Cleans and sterilizes glassware.
  • Performs laboratory clean up tasks.
  • Assists in basic maintenance of lab teaching equipment.
  • Assists in stocking supplies and updating inventory.
  • Assists in routine sorting of samples.
  • Prepares media and other simple preparation tasks.
  • Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
  • Carries out duties required for Drosophila husbandry
Consequence of Error/JudgementNot exercised at this level.Supervision ReceivedWorks under direct supervision, from oral instructions and to established procedures.Supervision GivenNoneMinimum QualificationsHigh school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred QualificationsA B.Sc. in a cell biology, biochemistry or genetics field, ore related program. Prior husbandry experience with Drosophila in a research laboratory. Prior experience maintaining day-to-day operations in the lab. High degree of motivation, enthusiasm, organization, and initiative. Ability to work independently and with other lab personnel. Effective oral and written communication.
