Job Description

The Hive is hiring an HR Manager The Hive Climbing and Fitness is a state of the art bouldering haven with 6 facilities (5 in the Lower Mainland and one in Winnipeg). We strive in making life better for our members and staff and the next opportunity for “making life better” is by hiring a full time HR Manager. Our HR Manager will need to wear “all the hats” regarding maintaining and building the department. The Hive’s four pillars: 1)Climbing, 2)Community, 3)Education and 4)Health & Wellness is achievable when we work together with true purpose and unity. The Hive conquered some difficult hurdles during COVID, and are using our “new normal” momentum to continue refining and improving our policies and procedures and are looking forward to this new hire.Are you interested in permanent, full time, flexible work with free access to our bouldering & fitness facilities You would work closely with Senior Management being led by The Director of Operations in order to:

  • Guide, coach and mentor approximately 20 to 25 managers so they are fully supported in directing our approximately 200 part time and casual Customer Service, Education Instructor and Route Setting staff during day to day business operations.
  • Maintain benefit plans and oversee payroll operations so that our Accounting/Payroll Assistant extraordinaire also has support and a team member to help for possible vacation relief. Prepare Record of Employments.
  • Learn and make suggestions for continued improvement on utilizing our “Humanity/TCP” scheduling and employee software.
  • Be the main point of contact with WorkSafeBC; ensure Occupational Health and Safety best practices and legislation are adhered to. Actively serve on OHS committees.
  • Work with internal and external community partners to ensure that The Hive is developing and achieving Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity goals.
  • Be cognizant of potential HR departmental gaps and be willing to make sustainable and practical suggestions on improvement; collaboration, curiosity and creativity are key.
  • Assist with the recruitment cycle when necessary.
  • Manage employee records, compliance, training and development.
Skills Required:
  • 5+ years HR experience handling a wide variety of HR responsibilities.
  • CPHR designation or working towards designation is an asset.
  • Experience with Quickbooks Desktop and payroll.
  • Able to be a self starter that is passionate about adding value.
  • Works enthusiastically with the senior team to develop policies and procedures that will ensure continued, responsible growth.
